tigerslionspistonshabs
Yes,Portland. Even though Indy has a MiLB base ball team, their population hovers around 900,000.Their metro population (the one that matters) is 1.7 million.Oakland? Nice idea, though. I have ideas on where those White Elephants should move to.Portland:Portland A's. Sounds good.Columbus:Has MLS team,NHL team,it is a big city. Been there.Buffalo:No words.Sacramento:A's AAA team is there.Slow Clap.Indianapolis:Writing letter to Lew Wolff about a possible "relocation".San Jose:Bad idea.Ann Arbor:Weird idea that just popped into my head.St. Louis: St. Louis HAD two teams at one time:St. Louis Cardnials and the Browns (Now the Baltimore Orioles)Ann Arbor.......Michigan? Muggens
I have an idea:MLB is not returning to Montreal and the A's are most likely staying in the Bay Area. Done. End of story.

Muggens
Let the Raiders go. They shouldn't have moved back to Oakland in the first place. That's a whole new discussion for another time. CubsFanBudMan
Only in as far as they can't continue to re-shape the Coliseum in their image. So no, I don't see this as conclusive there. At least a move has been made. Both Oakland teams seemed to be waiting for the other to make one, and the result has been, well, nothing. For years. We'll see what the details are, but it seems the A's are in a better position now and the Raiders are more likely to partner up and move south. Just how far TBD.(Full disclosure: I've been saying the Raiders would lose the game of musical stadiums for years. Long way to go, though.)EDIT:The San Jose Mercury News uses a "blogger" as a source to make a similar point. No idea how reliable he is:http://www.mercurynews.com/athletics/ci_26034039/major-league-baseball-announces-lease-deal-o-coA blogger who has been following the negotiations called the deal a "double edge sword because both the A's and the Raiders are competing for the single most feasible site.""The Raiders and the A's are making statements to appear as if they aren't competing, but it's clearly evident (they are)," said Rhamesis Muncada, a San Jose resident who runs NewBallPark.org. "Raiders will take lease approval as a step toward siding with A's, moving Raiders out. A's will think the same if Raiders reach a deal to build Coliseum City."Muncada, who had supported the A's now-defunct bid to move to San Jose, said the problem for Oakland and Alameda County "is that they want to retain all teams but don't have the resources to keep more than one, and they've been unwilling to choose between the two." Gothamite
I don't think anybody seriously believes the A's and Raiders aren't in direct competition. That's what sports teams in the same market do - compete for public resources, private money and fan attention. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
