I predict in game 7 of the World Series (Tigers vs Dodgers) a fight will break out between Joe Buck and a random overweight masked fan. The nationally broadcasted fight spills onto the field. Jim Ross suddenly appears in the booth next to McCarver. All of America goes wild as Joe Buck is getting his ass handed to him in the middle of the field. Yasiel Puig runs in from center field to intervene and choke slams the masked luchador. Miguel Cabrera unmasks the mysterious hero to reveal Jose Valverde. Dave Dombrowski signs Valverde to a 30 minute contract on the spot as he goes on to close the game with Buck's dead body still lying on the ground. The Tigers go on to win the Series through the heroics of the now legendary World Series MVP Papa Grande.

And then...

Nats' owner stated that the team will go to the World Series this year.

I hope he's right, however, I will not be disappointed if the Nats can't repeat last year's regular season success.

I hope he eats his words, man. This kind of thing tends to backfire more often then ya think, Mindless.

I'll be happy if the M's win 75 games this season. With the Angels (still) stockpiling talent and both the Rangers and A's still playing good ball, it'll be very hard to say 4th is the best place for Seattle... Thank god for the hapless Astros, eh?

I agree completely that this could comeback to haunt the Nats. That's why my expectations level is low for them this year. I think they will finish third in the NL East this year; however, since the Nats are the hometown team, I need to be a bit optimistic, right?

Third?? Just based on our D and pitching I gotta disagree with that. And I'm expecting good things out of the lineup with Span and a second year of Harper. (I could see Desmond and LaRoche regressing a bit though, they had pretty outstanding years last season.)

And yeah man, nothing the owner says will affect the play on the field. That's not going to comeback and haunt the Nats, if we finish third its because ATL and Philly played well and we didn't... not because of something Lerner said.

Yes, I believe that the Nats will finish in third place in the NL East.

The reason for my even keel assumption is that they can have all the talent in the world (which they have assembled a pretty good team on paper), however, there is always the possibility of something going awry.

In addition, it doesn't help that the players must exceed the higher expectations from the owner this year as well.

Therefore, if they do well this year, then I will be overjoyed; but if they don't do as well, then I won't be devastated one bit.

C'mon, third place finish! It's within your grasp, Nats!

AL East

Boston Red Sox - 95 - 67

Tampa Bay Rays - 91 - 73

Baltimore O's - 90 - 74

NY Yankees - 83 - 79

Toronto Blue Jays - 64 - 98

Blue Jays going 8-24 for the rest of the season?? I highly doubt that. A team with a .459 winning percentage will not go .250. Not even Houston's overall season is that bad. Try 70 - 92 at worst, 78 - 84 at best.

Fixed.

Thank you. Blue Jays are currently 64-76 lol. They are not losing all 22 remaining games, which would tie the longest losing streak in 52 years.

I'd honestly like to hear your reasoning for picking the Pirates and Reds, two teams who haven't really done anything this offseason except lose key players, over the Cardinals, a team who made it to the World Series and addressed their entire offseason needs list by the second week of December. I'm not trying to play homer or saying your wrong by any means, I'm really just curious as to why you made the choices you did.

Oh and how the Rangers finish behind the Mariners.

And the Nationals in fourth behind the Mets and Marlins.
