Interesting week for the Hurricanes.

Their Tuesday game at Philadelphia was pushed back to Wednesday because of that big snowstorm that hit the northeast this week. Tonight, they're playing the game in Buffalo that's a re-scheduled game from a couple weeks ago due to a blizzard. Their Friday home game with Ottawa has been pushed back to a noon puck drop on Saturday to avoid having to play three games in three nights in three different cities.

8 straight wins. The Columbus Blue Jackets have won eight straight games. The Columbus Blue Jackets have beaten their opponent 8 consecutive times. The Columbus Blue Jackets haven't lost for 8 games in a row. The Columbus Blue Jackets are Geoff Sandersoning.

Coincidentally I shaved my face after their loss to the Blues on January 4th because I had to wear a suit to a thing with my girlfriend's parents. I haven't shaved since. This beard is gonna grow until they lose.

Jackets win their 8th straight! 5-2 over Philly!! With a win on Saturday, they'll take 2nd place in the Metro. Jackets have 3 games in hand on the 2nd place Rangers as well.

Someone pinch me.

This Flyers fan is rooting for you guys. That is a damn good team you have there in Columbus. Considering my team is falling apart, I'll need someone to root for.

Tonight is the 1,000th regular season game in Columbus Blue Jackets history.
What are your favorite Blue Jackets memories? (well aware this is open to ridicule, but who cares)

Every year, I get to one or two Jackets games at most (haven't been since NYE 2011 actually...) and, well, in the 2008-09 season, this was a hell of a game to go to. Never heard Nationwide louder.

Also, my first Jackets game... wanna say it was the 1/4/03 game against the Coyotes. Been absolutely hooked ever since.

Well, it took a few days over 11 years but I finally got to see my second in person Blue Jackets win. This team has improved a great deal since last season. With about 10 minutes to go in the first, Philly turned it on and took the lead. Last year, the game was probably over at that point. This year, the Jackets came out in the second and pretty well dominated the rest of the way. They took Philly's best punch and didn't flinch. Also, FIVE GOALS! (And my GF scored one of those free t-shirts they throw around during commercial breaks)

Two improvements I noticed when compared to the game I saw last year: a lot more scoring chances and much better positioning on defense. The Blue Jackets are definitely headed in the right direction.

Anyway, great game. I can't wait to go again - but I'm waiting until March. Traveling in 2 degree weather pretty well sucks.

Ducks beat the Kings 2-1 in the outdoor game tune-up. Andersen continues his great season.

Stay tuned for the Still MIGHTY official game report :P

Followed by a couple insults from CS85. B)

If it involves taking pleasure in sports, I'll be there to strike it down.

The Kings have been the lethal combination of bad and boring for the past month. They're slow, they can't score, they're predictable, and they at very least need a trade to shake the team up. Ugh.

The only silver lining is that Vancouver keeps blowing in the wind. Forget catching San Jose at this point and just hold off those orcas from British Columbia, nonetheless otherwise, they'll face a pornstar-like rampage by whoever their 1st playoff opponent is.

I'll be going to the Jackets game on the 28th vs. the Senators. It's absolutely awesome to see this team do so well and have the city buzzing with excitement. It's a Buckeyes town no doubt, but now that the Jackets are on the up and coming, it could be a lot of fun here in the coming weeks. If they close the reg. season out with this type of momentum, this team is going to be dangerous and I don't think any team in the NHL will want to face them come round 1. Everyone is doing their part on the team and we finally have players settling into roles that push this team to wins. It's great to be a Jackets fan!

That Sabres game was rescheduled for the last day of the Olympic break. How that works with the CBA, I don't understand.

Haha honestly, not a whole lot to say about it.

Like you said, Andersen was and continues to be damn good (and after the Jets game, it brings the question of who to start at Dodger Stadium). Like Lights Out said (Wait... this is the hockey thread, right?), the Kings just cannot score right now. Ducks gave up the early goal (what's new?), had a great second period (what's new?), sucked on the power play (SNAFU), and just eventually ground out a tired and underperforming Kings team. And even through that, it was your typical Ducks/Kings game, really. Physical, chippy, frustrating, and close. Now I'm just really really really really looking forward to Saturday.

Two more things: 1) Now I really have no idea what the hell goaltender interference is anymore. Last week, Andersen is bowled over before the Canucks score, and it's a good goal. Tonight, Tim Jackman breathed on Quick and it's a no goal. I don't get it. I really don't. 2) Going into tonight's game, head-to-head, the Ducks had scored 325 goals, and the Kings had scored 325 goals. Ducks now own a slight 327-326 lead there.
