4_tattoos
Wait. Are the Devils the "home team" for this Yankee Stadium game? Hotter Than July > Thriller
The_Admiral
Yes, both non-Ranger teams are the designated home teams so that the Rangers don't have to give up MSG home dates. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
4_tattoos
That seems like a dick move but, I'm not sure. I always assumed NYC proper was Rangers territory, with Long Island being Islanders territory. Oh well. Whatever keeps more money in your franchise's pockets I suppose. Kramerica Industries
It's an MSG/tax break thing. Somebody can explain it better than I can.
HedleyLamarr
The Devils and Islanders probably make more money from this game than they would on a regular home game. I can see why they'd be willing to be the home team if that's the case. The Devils wouldn't dare pull Brodeur from the outdoor game, would they? Raysfan12
Saw some of the Ducks-Kings game last night (since there was nothing else good on) and I have to quite say, the environment was great at Dodger Stadium and the ice didn't melt. I don't think teams would be lining up to toss away a home date and hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue just because outdoor games are cool. cmm
According to this article...http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/25/sports/hockey/rangers-on-road-in-the-bronx-money-may-be-why.html?_r=2...it has to do with the MSG tax-break dealie and the fact that it's cheaper to pay the Devils and Islanders for their lost home games. Still MIGHTY
God damn it, NBC. Seriously? Putting Randy/Drew on the national broadcast? You can't send an actual crew out there?Dave Stredter and Brian Engblom and hell Anson Carter were just in LA on Saturday. Send them up the coast for an extra day. Not hard. | ANA | LAA | LAR | LAL | ASU | CSULB | USMNT | USWNT | LAFC | OCSC | MAN UTD |
ninersdd
I'd say Dustin Brown has replaced Chris Pronger as the Sharks most hated opponent. Regardless of the result, this is one of the ugliest games of the year. This what happens when you beat the Florida's and Calgary's, and you battle a tough LA team.
