Sodboy13
It's understandable that NBC would make a business decision to lean more for the Midwest and Northeast markets in Sunday games because the demand for the sport is always going to be there in those regions. That I get. However, I don't see why they don't extend coverage to teams doing well in the West and Mountain time zones, when they seem to make an effort in other areas, like the Stadium Series. Why continually relegate them to cable/satellite TV where they can't be seen by a percentage of fans? It doesn't make much sense to me. Toronto and Montreal should be added to their regular lineup. In local TV ratings among all NHL teams last season, the Kings were 20th, the Sharks were 21st, the Ducks were 23rd, the Avalanche were 27th, and the Coyotes were 29th. That's why they aren't on national TV. Not enough people will watch them to justify a significant national broadcast presence.Montreal will not attract a wide American audience. Toronto may pop up in years to come after the Winter Classic pulled better-than-expected numbers. The_Admiral
If I remember that chart correctly, it's not even so much that those teams are in the bottom third -- I mean, someone has to be 30th -- but rather the fact that after 18th or 19th, the local ratings drop right off a cliff. It got to the point where the Panthers had fewer viewers than arena seats. Even the Coyotes in 29th were like triple that! ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

FGM13
The Oilers had no business winning that game. Scrivens was absolutely amazing. Statistically, the best goaltending performance in the expansion era, comes from the 2013-2014 Edmonton Oilers. Weird. The_Admiral
No, they really want a stadium game (I hesitate to call games at the Pink Taco "outdoor"), which means the NHL will give them one. They still basically own the team. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
