csura999 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 An interesting group of pictures I noticed on the Helmet Hut's website about the 1953 Xavier football team. Their helmet stripe tapers, and they're wearing what appear to be navy blue monochrome uniforms.http://www.helmethut.com/College/Xavier/1953.htmlIs this the first case of a tapering stripe appearing on a football helmet?
GotPixels Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I'm pretty certain that monochrome uniforms were common back then. The helmet is a thing of beauty and proves to me anyways, that there really isn't that much new or innovative in the world of design. It has pretty much all been done before and recycled in different applications as time and technology moves forward. Old Dog Learning New Tricks.
rtrich11 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 This should be moved to the Sports Logos page, but as far as the helmet goes, very cool. cafepress.com/artbyrichards
Spearhead Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Very interesting design, thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Raymie Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Whoa. That'd look fresh even today, 60 years later.
illwauk Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 This would be a MUCH better look for their club football team than the BYU ripoffs they wear currently.
