Xist2inspire
Nets nickname updates, via The Brooklyn Game:Brook Lopez = BrooklynShaun Livingston = S-Dot In the same article, it mentions the NBA turned down Lopez and Reggie Evans' requests for Batman and The Joker, respectively, due to copyright issues, and rejected Andrei Kirilenko's nickname of AK-47.So, um, what's the point of doing "Nickname Night" if some of the players can't use their actual nicknames? Is it really a nickname if you have to make it up on the spot? Tradition is the foundation of innovation, and not the enemy.
Discogod
Ugh. This was fun in the 70s when a few players had nicknames on their jerseys (or, in the case of the Capital Bullets, first names), but this just smacks of desperation, just another way to milk more money out of the fans. Saintsfan
One or two of the top cycling teams put riders' twitter handles on their uniform. I'd have thought that would be a better, more up to date reworking of the ABA nickname idea? 2011/12 WFL Champions
Waffles
The Nets store is selling a Kirilenko nickname shirt that has his name in Russian:Possible preview of what he'll be wearing (if he's healthy enough to play)?

Old School Fool
Don't blame the damn manufacturer, blame the league for issuing these things. They might have a hand in some things, but overall it's the guys upstairs at the NBA that determine what sees the light of day and what doesn't.It's like when people were upset with the the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw games, everyone blamed THQ despite the fact that they were the Publisher and Yukes was the Developer. Also lol at anybody thinking "AK-47" is going on an NBA jersey. Gothamite
If the idea originated with the NBA, then blame the NBA.If the idea originated with Adidas, the league still had to approve it. So blame the NBA. If the idea originated in an allergy-medicine fog in the one of the owners' personal chefs, then blame the NBA for listening to him.Leagues are ultimately responsible for the product they put out on the floor. If they get bad advice, no matter where from, they don't need to actually take it. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. Dayne Amaze
atleast there was originality in the 70's when the NBA allowed it. Today can you imagine the ridiculous names NBA players would be putting on their uniforms? Nuh uh, never do this .. please.
