Jaguars, Dolphins, and Vikings... what do you say now?

So, back in the spring, we had three big NFL changes, and this board went a little crazy. Good times. At each revel, everyone jumped in to give their two cents... some knee-jerk, some well thought out. Myself included, of course. I'm just wondering, now that some time has passed, and we've had 8 on field views of each uniform (home and road, day and night, indoor and out), what do you think now? Do you still see it the way you did in April, or has your opinion changed at all? Do you like anything better now, than before? Or like them less?

The Dolphins look is still a really big downgrade from the last set. The new shades of aqua and orange are better, but the logo is terribad, the jerseys are awful, and the navy is somehow more intrusive than it was as a massive dropshadow.

The Vikings look much better than last year, but I still think this set is a step down from the throwback look they should have went to. The number font still blows and the matte helmet created problems they didn't have last year: black facemask and mismatched purples.

The Jaguars look is still unfathomably bad. There are a few elements of the uniforms which might be salvageable, but the entire package is bad before you even get to the helmet, which itself might be the worst thing of all time.

The only two things I don't like are the swooshes on the Vikings numbers, and the Jaguars helmets.

Personally, I loved the Dolphin and Viking uniforms (and Dolphin redesign) when they were unveiled. Still do. I understood the backlash, as change is traditionally met with extreme resistance. It can take us out of our comfort zone, and challange our perception of identity. Change is scary for many of us.

The Jags simply suck. Those are the worst sets in the NFL, and worst helmet in history. Maybe the Miami and a few other college helmets give it a run for its money though.

1. Vikings - I love their uniform update as I believe there are minor flaws with the set (unique font on one number, not both), but overall, between the jerseys, the purple pants I still believe they had the best looking update of the three. 8 out of 10.

2. Dolphins - I still hate the Aqua Fresh Dolphin logo and I am not crazy about the all-white uniform. The white facemask looks okay, would have preferred aqua. All in all the upgrade is okay. 5 ouf of 10

3. Jaguars - From the neck down it is a nice modern uniform upgrade that would get a high rating if it were not for that awful helmet. 3 out of 10.

My opinion on the Jaguars is not changed. I really don't see anything in action that seems better than at the unveiling. The helmet is actually worse than I originally thought, since at first I didn't realize how bad the black matte would clash with a glossy decal and metallic gold paint.

My opinion of the Dolphins hasn't changed either. Too little orange and a font that doesn't work with a team that's had nothing but block or modified block fonts in their history. I agree with a previous poster that the blue actually seems more intrusive even though it's reduced - probably because it's essentially on equal footing with orange now. They look "corporate". Their previous look was a good balance of "fun" and "tough".

My opinion of the Vikings has slightly changed - for the bad. Still think the number font is stupid. I still like the sleeve stripe treatment. I still think that if they needed the pants stripe to be asymmetrical, the wide part should be in the front. But the part that has downgraded it for me is the helmet. It's too mismatched, and the black facemask just makes it appear even more so. A regular gloss helmet with a black facemask may have been OK.

The Dolphins set has grown in me, to the extent that I really like the shade of Aqua---it makes my HDTV glow in a great way. HOWEVER, the lack of Orange is jarring. They always show graphics of Marino with the prominent Aqua-ORANGE-Aqua helmet stripe. Makes me really miss that orange. The new logo is fine. The new wordmark lacks personality.

Vikings set is great. Sure, the numbers are uncoventional, but thank goodness they got rid of the piping.

Jaguars are a mess. Let's hope they move to Los Angeles next week.

Jaguars: The jersey and pants are not a bad approach to a modern uniform. That being said, the helmet is terrible. The NFL should be concerned for our mental health that they trot those things out there.

Dolphins: I love them. I like orange, but there is a lot of orange in the league. I think that their combo of white and aqua (with orange and navy as simply trim colors for now), brings a nice, simple scheme to a very busy uniform scene. The Dolphins are never on my radar, but this new look is the best of the three - new logo included.

Vikings: They look great from the wide-zoom camera, but the little stylistic details are off-putting from up close. Get rid of the stupid serifs and the sail-stripes, and we're good. I also can't seem to wrap my mind around the striping on both sets of pants. The asymmetrical look is fine - good even, it is just the inconsistency between the white and the purple.

1. Vikings - Opinion remains the same. I like the helmet, can live with the facemask. The pants are a huge upgrade (by default). Hate the number font. Really wish they'd have outlined the numbers in yellow (but I generally hate the trend of minimizing key colors that much). I also did not hate the previous set as much as most and am one of the few who actually prefers it, though the current set is a couple of changes from greatness.

2. Dolphins - This is the one that I've changed on the most. I still think the logo is a HUGE upgrade. I hate campy and do like seriousness in logos. However, I am getting more and more turned off by the rest of the uniform. I think I liked the change at first simply because of the new logo, but the stormtrooper look is wearing on me and I feel they should have stayed closer to their traditional uniform. I think the uniform will feel old in about a year. Unfortunately, that'll usher in a return to the old logo.

3. Jaguars - I thought they were clown suits at the time and feel that I was pretty much correct.

So the Dolphins is my only real change. I was cautiously optimistic about the uniforms early on, but I just cannot bring myself to like them.

EDIT: I just looked at previous posts and noticed something that others are saying: that Miami's navy is even more off-putting now that it's been reduced. And I totally agree. That may be my biggest problem. On the helmet stripes, (for my eyes, anyway) the thin navy next to the thin orange almost turn it into one green stripe sometimes...sometimes I see green on one side and purple on the other (but I don't have HD TV).

Jaguars - the jersey and pants themselves aren't that bad (way better than the previous set in my opinion) but that helmet is so bad, it makes this look the worst in the history of modern era.

Dolphins - I love the new aqua, and streamlined feel to it, but the lack of orange (especially the traditional helmet stripe of aqua - orange - aqua) is unacceptable. Get rid of the blue, return to the traditional helmet stripe and return the prominence of the orange and this will be one of the best looks in the NFL.

Vikings - This is my favorite update since Nike took over. It's great. I have literally no issue with anything on this uniform set. The Vikings finally look like the Vikings again.

Vikings look decent, although I still am not in love with the black facemask, but the matte purple isnt half bad looking. The number font is inconsistent but doesnt kill what's overall a decent looking jersey. The pants are all an improvement.

The Dolphins logo still looks like it's from the national airline of a non-descript Caribbean nation, and the uniforms still remind me of a box of contact lenses. Might be somewhat more palatable if they made the orange slightly more prominent.

Jags jersyes/pants arent' half bad but the helmet is an atrocity and puts the whole uniform firmly in the toilet.

Dolphins look AMAZING in that color. (Just no future monochrome, please.)

Jags UNIFORMS are just kinda meh to me still. The helmets however, are still very much atrocious.

I have the same feelings:

Vikes need a purple mask, some outline yellow on the digits, white socks with the purple pants, and to keep the font the same for both numbers. Best of the three.

Phins look like a typical Nike college alt variation with a white helmet that teams add

Jags look like a turd in the punch bowl.

At first I hated how blocky the Jaguars numerals were, as well as their blocky pants design and the number of strokes on the numbers, as well as the empty, colored sleeves.

Now, from the neck down, I think the uniform looks great. The helmet needs a fix.

The Dolphins were my favorite at first, but now they are just boring to me. The color of teal they used is way too drowned out, and there's not nearly enough orange. The uniform is way too plain.

Minnesota's uniforms are wonderful.

I'm convinced that the Jaguars' new look is a part in a big scheme to eventually get them to LA. They look horrible, they play horrible, they play in a horrible stadium ... BAM ... fix that with a move to LA.

Dolphins: I actually really liked the set when I first saw it. The logo change is a real shame and always has been, but I loved the colors. Now that I see them in person though, it reminds me of a movie or video game that couldn't get the licensing for the real Dolphins, so they just went generic.

Vikings: I actually think the matte helmet looks better than I thought it would, and I've always loved the matte helmet. I don't notice the color discrepancy as much as many here do, and it kind of gives the whole look a bit of an understated feel, which can be difficult to pull of when your primary color is bright purple. LOVE the purple pants too. Fix the socks and it's perfect.

Jags: still horrible all across the board. The new logo isn't much of an improvement, the uniforms remind me of the Arizona Rattlers, and that helmet... We all know about that helmet.

The Vikings never need to change again. Even with the mismatched number font. If they want to make tweaks here and there I'll have no qualms with it but I'm bery satisfied with what they have now.

The Dolphins need to pick another number font pronto.

The Jaguars will look different (hopefully for the better) in 5 years. No need to freak out.

Who would hope a team moves? Honestly. That's messed up. Nobody should want to see a team ripped away from their fans. It's pretty much as tragic a thing that can happen in sports outside of death.

Jaguars - I like everything about the uniform EXCEPT the helmet. Personally, I think the helmet is the only thing ruining the entire set. If it was just a solid black or black with the teal "sparkle" (the last helmet they had) it would be about a B+. But that helmet alone brings it to a D.

Dolphins - Not enough orange. Not nearly enough, really. But really, that's my only gripe. For the most part, I like 'em.

Vikings - Just don't like that inconsistent number font. Fix that, and it's perfect.

All in all, I think all three of them could be solid uniforms, but there's just one little thing keeping them from being such.
