2014 MLB Changes (logo, uniform wise, etc)

The Angels are only wearing the red belts and cleats with the red alternate jersey at Home. The normal black belts & cleats are still worn with it on the Road.

The Angels used to have a very solid set, but with the team name on the roads, the red-on-red alternate, the patch overkill, and now this, they have fallen from grace.

Fallen... Angels?

Go A's!

Right. So the uniform is now all about him, not the team.

That's not what I what I said. It's just a black t-shirt and he still wears red sleeves. What's the problem? I would be willing to bet there's not any resentment in the Angels' locker room because Pujols likes his black t-shirt.
I'm not sure MLB has a uniform code for undershirts. Yes, they have official suppliers, as we all remember from the lightning bolt and dot matrix versions under vests, but I seem to remember Juan Pierre wearing a camo undershirt for some reason or another when he was with the Cubs.

EDIT: Pierre copied the team-color camo idea from Todd Helton: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060417&content_id=1405284&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc

Jacque Jones and Carlos Zambrano joined in. The supplier? An army surplus store in Mesa, AZ. Far from official.

I think unofficial slogan undershirts also happen a lot at the team level... didn't the Pirates do their own "Finish" undershirts last year or the year before? First one that comes to mind...

There is a rule about undershirts that applies to pitchers (can't be distracting), but nothing mandated league-wide. Some teams have rules regarding colors, but those are strictly team-by-team. I don't know if MLB has a rule about the manufacturer's logo being visible (like only Nike's is allowed or something similar). The only visible logo I remember seeing recently is the neck Swoosh.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

Is this the first time a throwback uniform has featured a contemporary logo on the sleeve? Also, minus a million points if they actually pair it with the regular Diamondbacks cap.

I was really looking forward to their throwback game against the Brewers. But looking at this, the Brew Crew won't throw back to the American Association days but maybe a Negro League team from Cleveland. :(

They couldn't schedule the Royals for this?

Why didn't the Cubs have this promotion last week when Pittsburgh was in town? At least that city had a Federal League team in 1914 and could have lent some credibility to a throwback uniform.

Lets call this what it is. Next Wednesday the Cubs and Diamondbacks are going to play dress up. Leave it to the Cubs to screw up the centennial of their own ballpark. They're already off to a good start.

By chance, are the Orioles coming to Wrigley at all? A Baltimore Terrapins game would be amazing.

Yeah they are, near the end of august. That would be a great look, I wonder if they've ever worn those as throwbacks before. Since it's the O's 60th anniversary they'll probably just wear one of their "regular" throwbacks. Although the Cubs will be wearing their 1994 alternate unis against Baltimore so they'll probably don something from that era too.

Not a true throwback, more of a fauxback, but this...thing exists:

Hard to see in that photo, but there is a Mr. Met patch (like the one on the alts now) on a jersey that was basically an early 1900s Giants jersey.

EDIT: Still not great, but another look:

Wow.

They could've just taken off the KC Feds logo and replaced it with generic arched text saying "OLD JERSEY LOL." That would've been better than this... thing.

Better yet, why didn't the Cubs get MLB to schedule a better opponent for such a momentous anniversary celebration?

We know they'll do that, since the Red Sox requested (and got) the Yankees for their stadium birthday game. Obviously there's a divisional rivalry in that one, but surely there was a better solution than this.

Is there a schedule with what jerseys the Cubs are wearing this year? I mean, is it possible with it being the centennial, they will do throwbacks from different eras as the season goes on? (Even if there is, this one is terrible but if they are spreading it out, they probably just picked the weekends that worked best without regard to opponent.)
