Rare, but I managed to snag one from Wayne Sporting Goods in 1992. I'd still wear it if my wife wasn't so put off by its filth. Anyway, I read this and then took a couple of pics. Check this out.

Just... wow! I would have bet a lot of money that I'd never see one of those (not that I had even thought about it until the other day!) Excellent find!

I don't get it - light blue was as much one of their colors as gray was, and by that time, they had been in gray for several years. The logo doesn't count, because a.) there's no baby blue in it, and b.) then green would count as well.

That's not the official hat that was ever worn on the field. The gold logo was never worn by the phillies

The Phillies wore the gold logo in 1994, most notably on their super-rare alt Sunday blue cap, that was worn 3 or 4 times then retired. I think every team wore the gold logo.

The Phillies changed to their current uniform in 1992, but not until opening day. They wore the maroon up until introductions - they even wore them in pre-game from what I recall (I was there, but it was a while ago.) So technically this maroon cap was an official 1992 on-field cap, even though it would only have been worn in spring training - and even then, I would think that a lot of old stock was used.

Uniform #SFGiants will wear tomorrow. Yes, that's a bear logo even though they were called the Sea Lions. pic.twitter.com/kZJ76wOy3g

@stewardsfolly the Seals wore bears on their jerseys?

Carl Steward ‏@stewardsfolly 22m

@susanslusser They got them from a previous Negro League team in SF. Couldn't afford their own.

The Giants will revive a little-known chapter of their city's baseball past by wearing replica uniforms of the 1946 San Francisco Sea Lions of the West Coast Negro Baseball League during Saturday night's game against the Braves.

The wardrobe change is part of the Braves' Heritage Weekend, which celebrates ongoing efforts to promote civil and human rights.

Fans watching on television must avoid confusion, since the Sea Lions' jersey sports a bear cub on its front. Research revealed that the Sea Lions purchased uniforms previously worn by the San Francisco Cubs, another semipro Negro League team. Thus, to preserve the integrity of history, the Giants designed their replica jerseys in similar fashion.

The Giants will donate one of their game-used uniforms to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo.

Braves are wearing Atlanta Black Crackers uniforms today vs the Giants for their heritage game. The Giants are wearing San Francisco Sea Lions jerseys, but the logo on the front of the jersey is most certainly NOT a sea lion. After a bit of digging, I found this:

AWESOME attention to detail on that one. I absolutely love those strange little historical quirks.

EDIT: Beat by Muggens. Damn that phone call I got in the middle of typing this up! :P

Also, a Birmingham Black Barons Negro League hat in that pic too.

So that's what Edward James Olmos does when he's not making movies...

No pictures yet but cubs (of course) and cardinals are supposed to wear 1929 throwbacks tomorrow. Will be the first time in quite a while the cardinals wear pinstripes if they get the throwbacks correct.

Are the Cardinals' throwbacks confirmed? And have we heard from the team about the rest of their opponents?

If only someone could photoshop Colonel Tigh in that cart next to Fregosi.

Yes they are. The hats are for sale on the team website but still no jersey pictures. Appears they are not going pinstripes however based off the hats.

Promo of the year so far. At today's Pirates game, fans 14 and under received this great Pirates replica pullover jersey! A great way to "Grow the Game"! Not sure about the Chevy patch but someone has to sponsor it. Baseball does nothing to appeal to kids but this is a start.
