2014 MLB Changes (logo, uniform wise, etc)

Watching the World Series, I can't help but notice the Royals logo still has a black drop shadow behind the monogram:

I wonder why, when black was dropped from the uniforms around 2006 or so, the logo subsequently wasn't updated to remove the black drop shadow. Maybe in 2015...

What amazes me even more is that they didn't remove gold from their primary logo in 2002, considering their uniforms did not have a stitch of gold, not even on the uniform's crown for some ungodly reason.

Phillies, Bears, and new NYFC fan.

Riddle me this, what color would the crown be if it wasn't gold?

It was black on the homes for some truly uncomprehendable reason.

The crown being blue wouldn't be that bad, IMO. Although the gold is just fine. It's like how the Dodgers have that red number. It might not necessarily fit in with the rest of the uniform, but it's a classic. Same with the gold in the Royals logo. Unlike the black drop shadow, that's been a part of their visual identity since the start.

A gold front num would work well to tie everything together.

There may not be enough time, and I'm not sure this would even be the right move. but I wonder if the Giants (and maybe Royals, too) are going to wear black armbands or something in honor of Taveras for these last two games.

There is no reason for the Giants or Royals to wear arm bands (league-wide memorials are reserved for elite members of the fraternity), but I'd guess they'll have a moment of silence prior to Game 6.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Yeah I figured not. I just thought that maybe because the few games he played in against the Giants were so significant (and maybe the fact that the Royals are in the same state), they may do something.

Memorial patches are dumb, unless there's actually worth something to remember about that person (i.e "greatest player in the history of the [whatever]").

Not to bash on the poor guy because he's dead, I just feel like it's not needed.

No they aren't dumb, your statement as written was. I hope that wasn't what you really meant. As an outsider you have no idea how much a person impact others. As far as should either team do anything for the death of a Cardinals player... not really, maybe at best a moment of silence.

I think each player should wear what they feel comfortable with. I could see Perez wearing a jersey number on his cap if he wants- maybe others inside the jersey over the heart on an undershirt or written on the inside of the jersey itself behind the crest.
