2014 MLB Changes (logo, uniform wise, etc)

Completely unnecessary. What is with this new trend of :censored:ty road alternates? First San Francisco, then the Cubs, and now the Dodgers.

And what's somewhat surprising is the fact that those are all "classic" teams, it's not like it's the rays, d-backs, and marlins adding another alternate (although they already have too many). Maybe the road alternates are a way for the older, more established teams to get into the alternate jersey craze.

Yeah, the True Blue caps. The real Brewer caps:

That's the light royal, same as the Cubs just adopted. Contrast with Chicago's cap from last year:

I so desperately want the Brewers to move to the dark royal.

I agree the darker royal looks a lot better. I actually always thought the Brewers had a darker royal look until Milwaukee brought back the throwback logo a few years ago.

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be eaten. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running." - Unknown | 🌐 Check out my articles on jerseys at Bacon Sports 🔗

Yes and yes. The batter logo was placed on the jersey before the 2000 season. It has always been in team colors. I'm not sure when the logo was first placed on the back of the cap (I think 91 or 92), and I think it might have been red-white-blue for all teams the first season or two.

I had a Braves hat in 1991 (believe it was Sports Specialties, when both they and New Era made on-field hats), and it was color-matched. However, some teams used red in the logo instead of gold or yellow. The 92-93 and '94-99 Brewers had a navy/white/red batter logo, I think.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

The Dodgers will alternate between two road jerseys this season, with one reading "Dodgers" across the front and the other "Los Angeles."

Dodgers executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen said in a statement that the trend will begin in Spring Training and the club will wear the new "Dodgers" uniforms when the club opens the season in Australia on March 22.

When the team moved to California in 1958, their road uniforms read "Dodgers" but were changed the following season to "Los Angeles" and remained that way until 1969. The team name returned from 1970-98, but the club has worn road uniforms with "Los Angeles" since then.

It will be the first time the club has donned alternate uniforms since 2011, when they wore powder-blue Brooklyn jerseys for six home games.

"Because we are equally proud of our iconic brand name and the city we represent and with the number of Dodger fans across the country, we felt it important to have two sets of road jerseys to feature both the team name, as well as Los Angeles," Rosen said.

I like this. Their current roads are great, but the Los Angeles script never seemed right to me. As far as long names go, it's better than Kansas City's, but I just don't care for scrips with tails when the name is two words (same applied to the Mets in the mid 90s.)

All this tweaking of jerseys don´t really mean a lot unless you buy jerseys, and man i used to do just that......got 30+ aut. jerseys, half of those players are gone from the teams now, i tell ya, with no salary cap players change team like we change underwear.

Gonna take something speciel for me to blow 2 or 300 on a jersey again.

I agree with you. I only own two MLB jerseys and one of them was the ASG BP from last year. That one is a rare one that I'll wear.

Yeah, MLB is the worst, in hockey and basketball there are atleast 5 players that 99% won´t get traded, in MLB i can only name one (first name Derek)

Dodgers choose Matt Kemp to show off the new jersey huh ? Hope he stays, LOL

New "Old School" Giants alternate to be used on Orange Friday's.

Something about the Giants orange jersey's just don't sit well with me...

Sigh. Why?

This, in the very least, better replace the current Giants orange alt. It's an improvement only for the fact that the Giants current orange alt couldn't be much worse. If they have both I'm not going to be too happy. And if they absolutely insist on having an unnecessary alt, it should be black.
