2014 MLB Changes (logo, uniform wise, etc)

If the White Sox hat is a Sunday/home/alternate BP hat, then we have reached a new level of absurdity with BP hats.

I assume based on what we're seeing, the Sox are bringing back the '82 uniforms from last season (because it's awesome, that's just my opinion) and will probably wear that hat during warmups, but don't be surprised if it makes it's way to an actual game once or twice. The Brewers wore their "Ball in Glove" BP hat once last season with their throwbacks.

Also, the White Sox, Brewers and Pirates aren't the only ones doing this...

This looks like it's going to be worn with the standard Braves BP uniforms. Crazy.

So is the Pirate hat Mustard or yellow? Since they kept the lady bug Pirate on the sleeves, now they'll have an older Pirate on a hat??? I'm going to go out on a limb and say these are worn on Sundays for BP prior to the throwback uni home games.

What's up with all the bp cap changes? Are some teams changing caps after only one year or are they adding these designs in addition to their 2013 diamond era caps? Kind of surprised since teams rarely changed bp hats until a new template came around every 3 years or so.

(And that blue jays cap better be for special games only because there is NO blue on there whatsoever. They made it even worse.)

In one of the recent BP cycle changes, some teams made tweaks to their designs after 1 year. It's for sure happened with the BP jersey template. I thought it happened once or twice with the hats too. Will look into it.

Looks like it has the same collar piping as on the gold one too. How much you want to bet it also has the "A's" on the chest rather than the outgoing uniform's Athletics. Damned shame too. The old green alt was one of the best uniforms in baseball. Been a real downgrade off season in the Bay Area between this and the Giants new orange monstrosity.

I'm glad this was posted. I really do not like the design of the new red alternate at all but they are doing this in the right way. I saw the main site says these replace the old red alternate but haven't seen anything from the team confirming that. I am really hoping it is true because that means we won't have the red alt on a weekly basis like we used to. That was my main gripe with the Braves- with the standard unis, cream weekend alt, blue road alt, and the red alt, things were getting very cluttered. Now if this new red alt is limited to five outings the whole year, hopefully we will have a bit of normalcy. Standard uniforms for most games, cream alt for weekends and occasionally break out the navy on the road. Though I would be perfectly fine if the navy went away all together.

Better yet, take it a step forward and throw the cream alts into a flaming dumpster. I agree that wearing a red jersey only a handful of times a year is a good step, but good lord, the Braves have messed up their identity in the last decade. They've still got two bad alternate jerseys and caps to get rid of. Hopefully with the red jersey going away, they'll decide to make a good navy alt ('90s BP jersey with piping) which they can wear home or road. That would enable them to get rid of the road caps, which would leave them with the cream crap and the awful tomahawk caps as the only blemishes. Oh, and bring back vertical arch lettering.

There is no such thing as doing a faux patriotic/military tribute the right way. That train left the station a long long time ago. This is nothing more than a terribly late to the trend marketing gimmick. An ugly one at that.

For purely aesthetic reasons, I will be glad when the Braves phase the tomohawk out of their identity. It has always looked clunky and cartoonish to me, and the yellow really clashes with the look IMO. I really like their cream home alt without the tomohawk. If they dropped the stars from the new red alt, it would be a nice upgrade.

The article says they will be auctioned off for each game they are worn. Sure the uniforms are also available at retail but the game uniforms are the vehicle to do the charity auctions. Again, I hate the design but think this is a better approach to military support than just slapping camouflage on the jersey to say "hey we are pro military!"

Funny how teams in all 4 leagues, that has not won a title in ages are so keen on changing design, new logos, new uniforms.

Where as succesful teams rarely makes changes.
