I believe the new A's hat will be worn with the new Green jersey since that jersey also has a white A's outlined in yellow

A's finally acknowledged and announced the new road cap

New top item on the list of things-we-need-immediately: the new A's Road Cap! http://atmlb.com/NHfM17 pic.twitter.com/TiYRiF4xKp

Compared to the outgoing cap that's a piece of crap. Easily the worst of the 3 road caps the A's have worn in the last 20 years. Very disappointed they'd make such an obvious downgrade.

At least the caps finally match the jersey though. It always bothered me that the coloring on the script on the green jersey didn't match that of the cap.

The coloring on the old away cap and the old green jersey were both gold. They matched just fine.

But the lettering on the jersey had a white outline the the cap A's had no outline. That is what bothered me. Make them consistent.

There are plenty of teams where their jersey script doesn't match exactly their cap script. The cap to me is about simplicity and over-complicating it, especially with a clunky logo like the A's isn't that great for a cap. The original cap itself was good as is and this new change was not necessary

I agree but in this case it was too close. If the A's on the cap were white, then I would agree with you, but given that it was yellow and the jersey had yellow with white outline, it just didn't work for me. I would much rather have seen the jersey script lose the white outline. Would have been much nicer, cleaner.

Am i the only one who thinks the A's caps would look better without the apostrophe "s"

Yes. They tried that back in the Philly days and very early Oakland days. It didn't look complete.

I've been posting for years that they should go with just the A. I think it would be one of those classic iconic marks, as opposed to their current A's, which certainly looks ok, but IMO is just too much. A simple initial will work - we know what team you're on.

It's clear that this belongs in the "unpopular opinions" thread.

The problem with that is the way the A is weighted, it looks totally off balance without the 's.

Plus, it gives it a nice separation from the Braves A (Not that anyone would really ever confuse the two, but it's a nice little unique addition).

Yankees have new home and away caps ? Anyone know when these are to be used ? . http://shop.mlb.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=709991

"Diamond Era" caps are the ones that are used during Spring Training and batting practice.

Yup, however that didn't stop them from wearing them in-game last season:

That doesn't look right. The regular NY cap is probably the most iconic hat of a time. Shouldn't be messed with

Aha thanks, then it´s really lame to write gamecap and even home and road.......even though i see A-rod there wearing it, was that only for a game or two ?

I think it would be fine if it'd been that way from the start, but it would look incomplete now if they randomly omitted it.

That's how I feel.

It would look odd, but if it had nearly 100 years of history dating back to Philly, it would have that iconic feel.

Now, the "apostrophe, S" is kinda quirky and odd too, but the A's have had it for some time, so it has a nice little place in MLB. Much better than when the Orioles used an "O's" alt cap or the late 1980s Mariners "M's" logo (which thankfully never made a cap). Those seemed odd when they came out (OK, I suppose Oakland may have too) and they were kinda "copy cat".

I don't know if O's and M's are a copy cat. I think it's out of convenience with team names that are three syllables. But it doesn't apply to all teams though. The Nationals will never use it because they already use Nats as a shortened nickname for example
