I missed it... because it’s not mentioned in the post I quoted... which was a post pertaining to its purpose in MiLB, not MLB.
Gothamite 17,806 Posted February 14 In fairness, the initial post in that chain specifically mentioned the majors. But I think this one is stupid even by minor-league standards.

We cant have a bunch of 19 year olds, the majority of which will never reach the majors have any fun wearing one off jerseys in front of 300 people. They must maintain the integrity of Single A baseball.

Gothamite 17,806 Posted February 16 I should love the Nebraska-steak logo. But I don’t. I guess I just don’t find most of these identities charming anymore. They’re ad agency-tested, focus group-approved, the whimsy forced and soulless. These changes used to show that the game wasn’t taking itself too seriously. But now they show exactly the opposite - attention seeking (and the merchandising) is too big a business for the teams to ignore.

NicDB 2,392 Posted February 22 Years ago, the Astros wore uniforms that didn't make any sense because they were a space-themed team with a brand inspired by the railroads. Now we have the opposite.
SFGiants58 9,424 Posted February 22 I'd have preferred a "shooting train" design based on this: Of course, you can't really do that with a steam train, and pop culture has steered memory of the old Astros towards the Tequila Sunrise.
