I would prefer the opposite approach, where minor league teams create their own identities and then tie the design to the parent club.  Like the Buffalo Bisons do, or the old Appleton Foxes.

No doubt their affiliates, but Appleton fans still had an unblemished Foxes legacy that spanned generations.

Let OKC take a name that means something to OKC, paired with a uniform that reflects the great visual legacy of the Dodgers.

100 percent.

The name of a local afilliated ball club can hold a lot of brand identity, if the team has existed for many years. This was a fantastic way of incorporating the major affiliate into the look and feel.

Interesting, it looks like most of the Cubs' affiliates have some sort of CHC patch on their jerseys, even going back a number of years, and even if it in no way fits with a team's color scheme...probably an organization-wide thing.

That wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.  Some organizations like the Yankees and Cardinals used to take it a step further and made affiliates adopt the parent club's whole identity.

Braves were probably the most notorious for that.

Then there's the Mets who saw the B-Mets become the Rumble Ponies and their AAA affiliate switched to Syracuse and suddenly they're now the Mets.

Ironically, Syracuse is another city with a traditional nickname (Chiefs) that would lend itself to simply applying the parent club's brand.

I stumbled upon a website that replicates older minor league jerseys among others and it’s proof of how the teams simply adopted their parent teams look at the time:

You’ll find Ebbets Field Flannels is well-known around these parts.

Even infamous, considering their impact on our wallets. 😛

They're an amazing resource for throwback/fauxback concepts, given that finding color pictures (heck, any pictures) of a lot of these teams is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Thats not too uncommon across the minor leagues.

Oh, I know...it's just the Cubs are the only ones I've ever noticed doing this (seemingly imposing it, perhaps, and often rather obtrusively) for all of their affiliates, without fail, for years.

Elsewhere, it seems like it may be up to the minor-league team. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies and Columbia Fireflies, for example, don't seem to have any Mets identification on their jerseys.

The Braves have traditionally owned most of their affiliates (the High-A club, whether it's been in Durham, Myrtle Beach, Lynchburg or Kissimmee, has always been an exception), so naturally they'd just keep the brand the same, since there's no chance of the team ever switching affiliates.

Those look horrible. The patches on the front are too big and take away from the rest of the look.

April 23, 2019 - 19:04 PM

The Triple-A San Antonio Missions will wear Fortnite-themed uniforms this Saturday, April 27, in a game against the Oklahoma City Dodgers. The jerseys feature the likeness of Fortnite: Battle Royale’s supply llama—also called “loot llama” because Fortnite fans love alliteration—whose […]

Doesn’t that game involve guns and killing? Not a great promotion or association for kids.

Might as as well have a Marlboro or joe Camel theme night.

Lets get some some beer pong Budweiser themed jerseys set up. ‘Binge drinking night’.

i know there was backlash with this game and the NFL. They ended up getting rid of the jerseys for awhile.

I think theres a reason we dont see call see call of duty, grand theft auto, or halo themed jerseys over these past few years.

It also has a bit of Minecraft built in as well since people can build mazes and obstacles to share with other people.  The kids in my daughter's classes are more into practicing the dances at times as well.
