Saskatchewan Roughriders Question

I have a vexing question regarding the Saskatchewan Roughriders' classic late 1960s(?)-1984 jerseys.

For most of the time the uniform was used, the TV numbers were on the sleeve, like in this 1975 pic:

But, what I am having trouble determining is, by 1980 or 1981, the circle "S" logo was added to the sleeves, bumping up the TV numbers the shoulder; this look would remain until the end of the 1984 season when the Green Riders introduced a modern look (the main logo is still in use by them to this day). Does anybody know when the change happened?

On a semi-related note, I am going to try and make a 1970s-era Roughriders jersey (green model) out of a simple sweatshirt- what size should I get (I am a size L normally) - XL or XXL for that vintage football look? Cheers.
