For Minnesota I'll just post the ones that aren't on the D1 page. Some of the DII schools play D1 Hockey so they are on there.

Fort Hays State Tigers (Hays, KS)

I love that Kansas doesnt do something stupid like University of Kansas at Emporia, Hays, Wichita, ect. It bugs me to see athletic identities like that.

On the topic of division 2 schools I read that d2 hockey does not have a national champion and only has 6 teams... is this true? If so what is the point of having it at all?

They don't. Only the Northeast-10 sponsors it at that level, with only Stonehill, St. Anselm, SNHU, Assumption, St. Michael's, and Franklin Pierce sponsoring it at this level. Fellow NE-10 members Bentley and AIC (Atlantic Hockey), and Merrimack (Hockey East) sponsor it at the D-1 level. UMass Lowell used to be in the NE-10 and played in Hockey East before they moved all their sports up to Division 1.

The teams play each other, in addition to a mix of D-3 and club teams.

If I'm not mistaken, there's also no D-2 men's volleyball.

Division I and II men's volleyball play for the same title. It is called the "National Collegiate Championship." There are only 40 some DI and DII men's volleyball teams. DIII men's volleyball is now over 50 teams and they have their own championship as of a few years ago.

I've always liked that Humboldt one.

I live in New Hampshire now, and there are three (soon to be two) D-2 schools in state:

Franklin Pierce University Ravens in Rindge

St. Anselm Hawks in Goffstown, which borders Manchester. They're moving down to Division 3. (Alumni are pissed, but I haven't heard anything rescinding the move.) They're angling to get into the NEWMAC.

Southern New Hampshire University Penmen in Manchester. (They just bought the naming rights to the soon-to-be-former Verizon Wireless Arena.)

All three are currently in the Northeast-10.

On another note, I wouldn't be shocked if, eventually, Division 2 goes bye-bye. They seem to have many of the costs (scholarships and travel and other things) that the Division 1 schools have, but none of the TV revenue.

You are gonna have that with any college sports program that isn't D-1, even D-3 has scholarships for players it's just instead of being athletic scholarships they are academic. Same principle though.

FINALLY! Someone who "gets it" when it comes to D3! I hate when I hear "D3 doesn't offer scholarships." We do! We don't, however, offer athletic grant-in-aid.

I loved that update the instant I saw it. Also, BU is 3 wins away from being NAIA Baseball National Champs!
