I was SO excited to see Mercyhurst University added to the site!

I want to add everything I know about the logos and their history so that they can be properly noted.

The following need to be added:

The original athletics logo lasted from 1973 through 1994.

1994-2000

ship_logo-lg.jpg

This secondary logo was used from 2009-2012

MercyhurstlogoM-LAKERSworkingcopy_zps550

And this logo was the hockey team's first logo, used from 1986-88

Mercyhurstoriginallogosmallercopy_zps90b

These were added in 2012 and are the current logo of the ACHA hockey team at Mercyhurst University. The Ships Wheels are the primary, the Anchors the secondaries, and the wordmark is a tertiary

This logo became the Wordmark of Mercyhurst Athletics with a major rebrand. Mercyhurst College became Mercyhurst University and so the logos and wordmarks had to reflect this. This logo is the current wordmark

THIS is the Primary Logo of Mercyhust athletics. It is a unique M that they worked very hard to distinguish from other schools. It was implemented in the College-to-University rebrand of 2012. It is the current Primary Logo.

This is the alternate logo of the ACHA DI hockey team at Mercyhurst. The primary is a green ships wheel as posted in the previous post, but because most of the websites are green, the blue wheel is used for publications. It has been used from 2012-present

The A's white elephant on their BP caps.

BP Cap Mark - 2013 through present:

In addition, the A's wore the White Elephant mark on the sleeves of the 1988 road uniforms:

Note the different shades of Green and Gold in comparison to the present-day BP caps.

Man, that still pisses me off.

At some point, when they were putting together the illustrator files, they accidentally made the glove's webbing transparent, not white. It shouldn't pick up the color of the background, but does now in every application except the alternate uniform. Bugs me.

You mean, instead of going with this?:

The problem is that the keyline is Gold, no matter what background it's up against.

No, the keyline doesn't bother me. They've always let that recede against the background.

But the glove's webbing, between the thumb and first finger, that's supposed to be white.

New Era, ironically, is now the only one who gets it right. I suspect when MLB'd creative team made the official vector file, they left that transparent. So now everywhere you see it (except for the alternate on-field uniform), it picks up the background color.

Such a little mistake, but bothers the hell out of me.

Reflection off the stitches, maybe. Or bad reproduction. But definitely never white.

There was a small variation between the official logo and the cap logo in the late 70s/early 80s: the gold lines between the fingers were totally straight:

The official logo always had lines that curved in at the bottom:

Don't know the reason for the discrepancy.

Here is that Hawks logo I was talking about. I guess just like anything else they could have different versions for certain things.

Yeah, that's basically the rendering I've been focusing on, but this has a white outline on the earring. I don't know why. Weird.

well, paging ren69, I guess
