WSU151
How do you know if it doesn't need to be there? How do you know it does need to be there? If you cover it up with stripes that don't break, there's really no significant function. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half. oldschoolvikings
Don't get the hate the Riddell Speed Flex helmet is getting, they really don't look that bad and player safety should always take precedence over aesthetics (Within reason, the NFL's rule on helmets is dumb)I think just the opposite. The NFL at least has an explanation for their one helmet rule. I understand that not everyone is buying it, but at least they can tell you why they're doing it. Also, to me the ulterior motive behind the ugly helmet spaces (creating a recognizable proprietary helmet style) is clearer than the ulterior motive behind the NFL shutting down the presumably lucrative throwback market. The next person who can give me an understandable explanation as to how random cuts in a football helmets shell prevent injury will be the first person to have done so. http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/
MJWalker45
The only reason I can see for that cut out is to stuff some computer devices in there to report concussion information without sticking out the back of the helmet like the Shutt design. gdu
Wow that off center logo placement on the Miami Revo Flex is so horrible. Id rather see the logo centered and overlapped a bit by the facemask than the way they did it thereApparently everyone else was as upset as you. They already tweeted this is their first time decaling the helmet and they are still working on placement.

They talk a bit about testing different designs around the 5:11 mark. There was also a graphic released with the Arkansas helmet which had the following quote “The Speedflex’s unique shell design is engineered to disperse energy and reduce the risk of trauma, while Riddell’s InSite Player Management Software alerts the sideline to significant, single or multiple impacts that possess attributes that may result in a possible concussion.” Portfolio Dribbble

FiddySicks
Add another to the list:Eww! What the hell? They've gotta do something about the logo placement on that helmet because that's just straight up nasty. It's not as bad as the placement of the Miami logo, but it's pretty damn close. They're either going to have to start painting the logo on the helmet (which I'm sure a company like HGI could do easily), or make the helmet logos more along the lines of secondary logos, kind of like what they do in hockey. This is a REALLY bad sign. Can you imagine how much of a disaster that enormous new crappy Buccaneers logo is going to be on that helmet? It's more the helmet's fault for having that air vent where it does. If you move the decal towards the back of the helmet, it will look like a lacrosse helmet (like Miami's). It needs to center around that front tapered air hole. The CU helmet is angled, which may distort the logo placement and make it look bad. But in all honesty, the placement is about perfect.
