NCCoachArete
Curious as to what the community here thinks...Which was the better logo for Houston's professional team? How do these two logos compare to what the Texans use now?

Beluga4
Personally I think the Gamblers had the better logo but the Oilers had the better name
JackieMoon
Definitely the Oilers. I miss seeing their color scheme/ them playing in the AstroDome.
The Mojo Maniac
Gamblers logo looks creative but I think the Oilers take the cake. They always had a solid visual identity anyway.
Soarindude
I definitely think both looks were very good looks, and I prefer both of them over Houston's current look. They have more pizzazz then the generic Houston look. However, the Oilers definitely was superior. One of the best looks in the NFL of all time. BBTV
The Gamblers logo is pretty bad. It's the most awkward G I've ever seen - if you didn't know it was supposed to be a G (I'm assuming it is) you'd be hard pressed to figure it out. Besides the G, it's a shape of Texas with a star. Not very creative. Maybe as a shoulder patch or tertiary logo as part of a larger package, but between the two presented, the oil derrick is the stronger logo hands down;
Trapper John
Love the Oilers logo I'd put that at the top or very near the top of the best all time. Just clean, unique, distinctive, and fit the team perfectly.
imawalkingcorpse
Oilers, any logo with the state of Texas is abysmal.
oddball
I think they are all (Gamblers, Oilers, and Texans) equal and well designed.
Beluga4
I am the only one who likes the Gamblers logo
BrianVlietDesign
Oilers by far. The Gamblers is interesting, but has nothing to do with gambling or card games.
Beluga4
Gamblers has nothing to do with Houston as far as I know. The Texas shape is what makes me like it better
jc...
Gamblers sounds like they relocated from Las Vegas and didn't change the name. Similar to the Tennessee Oilers.
btharner
Kenny Rogers was part-owner of the team if I remember correctly.
Mitch B
Personally I think the Gamblers had the better logo but the Oilers had the better nameI definitely prefer the Oilers logo, and their color scheme needs to be brought back to the NFL. I think the Texans have a great logo, but theIr color scheme is rather bland.
JackieMoon
Now that Bud Adams isnt among us anymore, you think they could (Houston) buy the rights to the name and rename the team, much like what Charlotte in the NBA is doing. Would be awesome to see those sky blue/red/white uniforms back in the NFL.
Tygers09
Oilers hands down, but I always thought the color combination of the light (or columbia) blue and red were a little cheesy. The Gamblers logo was bland but you cant go wrong with the black and red colors. When the Texans name surfaced I thought it was a cheap shot to the Cowboys, because that's what they were called originally, but the when the bull logo was unveiled, it totally fits the name. Love the navy blue but IMHO the red could be a shade lighter,

iconoclast
When the Texans name surfaced I thought it was a cheap shot to the Cowboys, because that's what they were called originally,The original Dallas Texans played one season in the NFL, 1952, then folded. The AFL's Dallas Texans and the NFL's Dallas Cowboys both began play in 1960. The AFL Texans moved to Kansas City in 1963 and became the Chiefs.
