The San Antonio Scorpions won the NASL Championship last night with a 2-1 victory over the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.

Apparently, the league has dropped the name "Soccer Bowl" for the game itself, and it refers only to the trophy.

Both groups from the Twin Cities are supposed to be making presentations, it seems.

I'm not holding my breath that MLS is going to have a vote on this in December, which would be the next opportunity. I'm not convinced that these are the last groups that will be making pitches before the 24 by 2020 are determined.

I would tend to agree. Let's see if any other cities step forward.

If Minnesota is chosen, that would leave two NASL clubs crowded out of their market and looking for a new home. Unless you think United could carve out a niche as a low-priced, family-friendly alternative to the MLS club downtown?

I'm not sure there's much of a value proposition in being the lower-priced alternative to an MLS club. MLS tickets aren't that high priced to begin with.

I would think it would be really tough for NASL and MLS to co-exist in a mid-sized market like the Twin Cities. USL Pro is a different story, but only if it were a feeder to the MLS club, as we'll soon start to see here in Portland.

If the Vikings are granted an MLS team, MNU's dead. That's the end of that story.

That would be my presumption. So two NASL teams on the lookout for new markets; hope the folks in Milwaukee are working behind the scenes.

The Revs eliminate Red Bull, and now we await tomorrow's LA/Seattle match to see who will be facing them in the MLS Cup Final.

Great, great match, that. Fantastic.

Can't wait for MLS Cup.

And did anyone catch that shot of Donovan at full-time? Just perfect.
