I remember being at the deciding game of the 1993 World Series, but I don't actually remember the game. I also remember watching my dad watch the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals and Super Bowl XXIX but again, I don't actually remember the games. The three earliest sporting events I remember were Super Bowl XXX, the 1995 NBA Finals, and the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals.

Do You Believe in Miracles.... Yes

You remember that? I think I am about a year older than you and I don't.

Mine might be Super Bowl XV: Raiders over Eagles. I remember wanting the Eagles to win and I am pretty sure it is because I liked their helmets. So starts my obsession with uniforms! That was early in 1981. I don't remember anything from 1980 (world series, etc.).

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

This thread is basically "How old are you?", but Let's see:

- I've been told I knew the entire lineup of the 1990 Reds, but I have zero memory of watching any of their games. There's pictures of me plopped in front of the TV during the World Series though.

- There's a random Oilers-Bengals game I can remember watching with my dad in either 1990 or 1991.

- The first Super Bowl I can remember watching was the Super Bowl 27 between the Bills and Cowboys.

- The first World Series I can actually remember was 1992 Blue Jays - Braves. I cheered for the Blue Jays because that's who my dad wanted to win.

- I can remember watching the opening ceremonies for the 1992 Winter Olympics with my mom because per usual the Opening Ceremonies were weird as hell.

- The first time I watched any of the Stanley Cup Finals was in 1993 Kings-Canadiens. I was almost 6 and my dad had just gotten transferred to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania so we lived in a hotel for a couple weeks and that series was on the TV every game.

In terms of watching, I have a very vague and fleeting memory of my first Hull City match. The main thing I remember is thinking how odd it was that we were playing in red socks. We only wore them for a few year in the early 1980s so that would have meant I was six or seven at the time.

As for participating, I remember being about four or five and having a kick around with my dad in the tenfoot behind our house. I remember being quite frustrated at my inept attempts to get the ball to go where I wanted it to. Funnily enough, over 30 years later I still get the same sense of frustration when I try to play five-a-side. Ahem.

That's my first memory, but reverse. I don't really remember the games, but I do remember the last play. Otis Nixon grounded out and my four-year old self asked my dad when Alabama played next so I could "like sports again"

I have a remarkable memory.

I remember my Uncle's beach house and that was 1979, I remember my parents throwing out my crib when I got to big for it.

My earliest memory of attending any sporting even was was a minor league baseball game.

It was the Calgary Cannons. I believe it was 1990 and I have no clue who they played. I don't recall the score or any players either. I just know that was my first exposure to baseball.

In the 1991/92 season I saw my first (and second) hockey games. I was in LA for a relative's wedding (i was the ring bearer. Which is weird because of all the weddings I've attended in the past 3 years {about 10} there has never been a ring bearer....but that's a conversation for another thread/day) and I got to see the Kings play the Leafs in LA. It was the coolest for a 7 year old kid who lived in Calgary but was born in Toronto (and would move back to Toronto shortly after) because I never liked the Flames. I then saw the Flames play later that season, if memory serves it was against St. Louis but i'm not certain.

I also remember watching plenty of Stampeders games on TV the 2 1/2 years my family lived out there. Was never a huge Stamps fan but still love the CFL to this day.

Funny...I remember nursury school; every day we'd say the date at the beginning of the day. "Tuesday, November 13th, 1979". I remember saying 1979...but no sports memories before 1981.

True enough.

At the risk of revealing that my gray temples are not an affectation, I remember seeing Hank Aaron wearing blue and gold at Milwaukee County Stadium and Pele playing for the Cosmos in Yankee Stadium. Those are perhaps my first sports memories. I have no "first memory" of the Packers.

I remember that day too, I had a Choclate cake with a number 4 shaped candle.

First football game I remember watching on TV:

lambeau-icebowl-file.jpg

That's the Ice Bowl for you young 'uns, AKA the 1967 NFL Championship Game.

I hated the Packers for a long time after. But it was pretty exciting to meet Bart Starr by chance 20 years later when he came to me and checked in for a flight at the American ticket counter in Tampa. I still have the ticket jacket he autographed for me.

1993 World Series final game. I remember I was rooting for "The Blue Team" (Blue Jays), because I absolutely hated the color red. I remember being so stressed out when I thought "The Red Team" (Phillies) was going to win, but after Joe Carter's home run (which Was nothing more than confusing to me) I actually started crying because I felt so bad for the losing team after they showed one of their players looking so sad. My current day self is almost ashamed to say I ever felt bad for the Phillies and that scumbag Curt Schilling.

The first sports memory I have where I actually recognized the team and players was opening day 1994. I remember everyone being so excited that the Giants had this guy named Barry Bonds, who apparently was pretty new and had apparently won some major award the year before. I just remember finding his dangly cross earring to be so strange. I mean, why is a man wearing an earring?!?!
