Virginia Beach FC Concept - Feedback Please!

I'm creating a Virginia Beach soccer identity just for the fun of it. VB has intrigued me of late, so I decided to give it a go. I've come up with a preliminary logo, but I want some help to make it feel more flushed out and complete. I also will take some suggestions on color, but I want to stay with the general color scheme. Once I finish up the logo I'll get to the uniforms.

Here's the logo where it stands:

I took inspiration from the city flag for the lighthouse, and I've liked the idea of a diamond shaped crest for a while. Comments and criticism please! I want to flush out this concept!

I prefer the original color scheme and font versus the updated one. And honestly, I don't think the strips added much to the lighthouse. I think the shape needs to be reworked. Is just doesn't look like a lighthouse. As mentioned before, it really looks more like a skyscraper. And something should definitely be added to the bottom section with the FC. Maybe some waves in the light blue?

As a longgg time Virginia Beach native (I still call it home and have tons of family there, including a daughter), I will give you one piece of advice on the lighthouse that will make it connect to the city and make your logo really location-specific. Instead of stripes, go with a checkerboard pattern seen here, https://www.google.com/#q=cape+henry+lighthouse , the iconic Cape Henry lighthouse. I do a lot of work for the Virginia Beach area and I have a fantasy hockey team on these boards (see Major League Hockey) that incorporates VB landmarks into the logos, including one with the Cape Henry Lighthouse. Hope that helps. Love the colors btw.
