FunnyHeadlines
I think that the polos will always be part of the uniforms, but they will get more intricate, and with more design. But, maybe, polos will be obsolete one day. You'll have to wait and see!

FunnyHeadlines
March 17, 1878, The free agency period ends and the scouting period begins. The draft order is finalized and is based on how many players a team still needs and the success of the previous season: The Millers will get 4 picks and pick 1st in the order, the Lords will get 2 picks and pick 2nd in the order, the Chill will get 4 picks and pick 3rd in the order, and the Whales will get 2 picks and pick 4th in the order. The Kings and Liberty do not get a pick since they have all their positions filled. Still, the top 30 high school seniors in the nation will be invited. However, this year, if a student turns down the offer to enter the draft, the next one on the list will not be asked unless there would not be enough rookies to fill all the positions. If a student is not picked, he can apply for Free Agency.March 18, 1878, The league announces that the position of assistant head coach will start immediately. Teams have until April 7 to sign one. The league also announces the founding of the Coaches Pool, for which a special committee will scout high school coaches and invite them into it. A player who has completed one full year on the Free Agency list may resign and join the Coaches Pool. All first Assistant Head Coach contracts will be 3-year deals earning $3000 a year.March 19, 1878, Lex Warren, Bryan Armistead, and Walt Dickson resign from the NCL Free Agency List and join the Coaches Pool. The league announces that 8 high school coaches have joined the Coaches Pool: Art Beauvais, from Indianapolis, IN, Burt Parson, from Savannah, GA, Jason Mogensen, from San Buenaventura, CA, Mervin Drake, from Chicago, IL, Jerry Portwood, from Richmond, VA, Clint Roling, from Peoria, IL, Hugh Twiggs, from Baton Rouge, LA, and Earl Helzer, from Montgomery, AL. Undrafted rookies can apply for the Coaches Pool if they wish.

FunnyHeadlines
April 7, 1878, The league releases the logo for the 1878 NCL Draft in Jackson, MS, at New Stage Theatre. The deadline for signing an Assistant Head Coach has come upon the league and all positions have been filled.April 30, 1878, High School Nationals conclude, with Junior Collin Stender winning. He has not graduated so he cannot enter the draft, but it helps his stock for next year. The highest ranking senior, 12th highest rated Edmund Capehart, got 3rd. FunnyHeadlines
May 20, 1878, The scouting period ends. The NCL Draft.edit: Collin Corbin is from Cedar Rapids, IA, Ulysses Gerow is from Winston, NC, Bryce Rosenbloom is from Los Angeles, CA, Reggie Flay is from Erie, PA, and Gerald Heider is from Hampton, NH.The highest rated senior, Kenneth Pappalardo, was picked #1 by the Millers. There were no surprises this year, with the highest rated and Convention Tournament winner going 1 and 2. The highest ranking senior at nationals, Edmund Capehart, went 5th overall, the first pick in the 2nd round, to the Millers. This year 26 of the 30 entered the draft, lower than the 28 of 30 last year. That is kind of good though, since now there are less players being picked, so the Free Agency Pool is now less crowded than it would be had more players entered. JMurr
I have decided that this year I will be cheering for the Millers. As currently no team local to me exists (southern California), the Millers are the farthest west and therefore I will root for them. One day I am sure you will reach California but for now, considering the time frame of your league, I understand why one dose not exist. Much too early to send a team to the west coast. FunnyHeadlines
June 1, 1878, All rookies have been signed. The official rosters:correction: Becker has 0.5 playoff winsThe Whales' coach/owner Alexander Tanner decides that last year's 4th Board Dallas Mathews will play 1st Board this year. Toronto waits in anxiety over whether he can perform at as high a level against better opponents. The Liberty have the biggest payroll of all the teams, and are starting to look like they could develop a dynasty within the league. Their biggest signee, Ivan Blackbourne, has been placed at 1st Board after a tremendous year last year at 2nd Board for the Whales. There are few doubts as to whether he will dominate. The Kings retained all their players from last year. Coach Michael Washington had a decision to make as to who to put at 4th Board and 1st and 2nd Alternate. In his mind, Barclay Ryers' poor performance last season has lowered his confidence, and he now feels as if the 3 competing are interchangeable. The roster he submits is makeshift he says, and that the week 1 lineup will be determined by the preseason, something that the NCL also announced will happen on April 5th. The Minnesota Millers decided to go with a lineup of almost all rookies, with the exception of Branson Dennell at 3rd Board, who had an average season last season. They are also anxious to see how their #1 pick, Kenneth Pappalardo, will turn out.The Chill did an almost complete makeover of their lineup this offseason, letting go of their 4 free agents and drafting rookies to replace them. Less then stellar 1st Board Boris Teel was moved to 2nd Board, and 1st round pick Barney Seagle replaced him.The Baltimore Lords had a decent free agency period, signing Rob Wray and David Becker. While their draft picks turned out to beat Wray out for the starting jobs (which isn't a bad thing, except for Wray), David Becker is still the best on the team in coach Allen Noell's mind and will play on 1st Board this season.
