Milwaukee Bucks Originals Update - Bucks Unveil Jersey Changes for 2014-15

Recommended Posts

Can we go back to discussing Bucks gear!? It doesn't matter their popularity in or outside Wisconsin. Just as long as they have a team. You dont see no Seattle thread up with this many posts do you?

Wow, this thread took a weird turn.

My original point was this. In Wisconsin the sports hierarchy is as follows...

1. Packers

2. Badgers Football

3. Brewers

4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc. Everything else

In short, people in this state prefer sports that involve tailgating. I'm not disputing epsnboy's assertion that outside of Milwaukee, high school and college ball are preferred to the NBA... only that the degree to which they're preferred is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. In Wisconsin, basketball is just a way to kill time between the end of football season and the beginning of baseball season. Thus, it wouldn't make sense to add camo to the Bucks uniform in a half-baked attempt to pander to people in other parts of the state who enjoy deer hunting when they don't even care about the sport the Bucks play in the first place.

Bucks would probably pick up in popularity if they would actually get past the 1st Round of the Playoffs, or just had consecutive decent seasons in general. You'd think Ray Allen and Glenn Robinson would've gotten them over the hump in the late 90's but that wasn't the case.

The other problem the Bucks face is that their games are inaccessible to outstate (do we use "outstate" for Wisconsin like we do for Minnesota? halp) Wisconsinites in ways that Packers and Brewers games aren't. Most Packers games are on Sundays, they're events unto themselves. Brewers games are in the summer and thanks to the tailgate culture also events unto themselves, so it's generally easier for people to drive into town for games. Bucks games are in the winter, they're mostly on weeknights, you have to go downtown and deal with parking and traffic, you have to get back home possibly in crappy weather and then get home really late, it all gets to be sort of a pain for people in the Rest Of Wisconsin. And on top of all that, the Bucks are crappy, and on top of that, those thugs don't play for the love of the game like they do in college. Jabari Parker, what a thug!

So there's really a lot of stuff conspiring against the Bucks having the Wisconsin-wide following that the other two pro teams and the Badgers have. That doesn't mean that the Bucks can't thrive as a Milwaukee-centric enterprise the way other small-market teams have, but they'll have to put a damn good team on the floor for once.

You reminded me that being a Brewers fan in California is a pain.

Nobody ever wants to put them on National TV. :/

EDIT: No, I won't get MLB.TV as I'm mostly a casual baseball fan.

This looks pretty good. Maybe just get rid of the beveling. Then use it as the alternate jersey in a set that includes updated versions of these: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/97127-nba-changes-2014-15-season/?p=2286404

I can't stand the collar on the current set. It might be one of my least favorite uniform aspects in all of sports.

What's the change on the red alternate other than moving the jumpman? Looks the same to me.

That and the championship logo on the back. Other than those two little tweaks, same jersey.

What are the chances we will get a total re-brand for 15/16 considering the Bucks just updated their jerseys for the upcoming season?

Okay, I Photoshopped (make that Microsoft Painted) the logo and the red alternate Bucks jersey. What do you think?

As someone who lives in northwestern Wisconsin (Superior), the Bucks aren't even televised up here; we get the Timberwolves. It's only because of how MLB allocates its regional programming that I can watch the Brewers on an alternate satellite channel instead of the Twins. Basically, north of Eau Claire, we're the largest city in the northern-part of the state, and this area is entirely too hockey-crazed in the winter to care about the Bucks. Essentially, the admiral is correct, a lot is working against the organization from growing their fanbase statewide, most prominently is that they haven't been all that fun to watch. They would do well to cater more toward the Milwaukee metro region.
