gosioux76 2,396 Posted March 3, 2014 I like the uniforms, but here's my concern about the numbers. What was the priority when designing these? I suspect it was more about designing something to showcase Nike's reflective material than it was to give Tampa something that best fit their identity.
JayMac 3,813 Posted March 3, 2014 If you take the two 1976 expansion teams and look at side by side comparisons of their present look to their initial looks, it is a shame to see how much both teams have regressed.
gosioux76 2,396 Posted March 3, 2014 Great comment from the story on the Bucs' website: "My clock radio called. It wants it's number font back."
hawk36 3,353 Posted March 3, 2014 Holy crap....ain't even mad about the Jags helmet anymore after seeing this look. Unreal.Let's not get ahead of ourselves.....Jags helmet < Every uniform design in the history of sportsI'm not thrilled with the new uni compared to their past looks but I'm willing to reserve judgement until I see these things live.I just don't see how anything (live, in person, on high def) can make those numerals look good. I think it was Erik Spiekermann who said, "there are no bad fonts, just bad uses of fonts", he may have to rethink that statement now.
AgentColon 82 Posted March 3, 2014 Wow that is RED!!!
ptaylor 176 Posted March 3, 2014 Yep, it's now been confirmed, those numbers on the home uniform look just as bad, if not worse. Disappointed.

tohasbo 648 Posted March 3, 2014 And here's the home uniform.I think this is a case of when the toilet seat collar looks GOOD. But that's just my own personal opinion.
MattMilone 10 Posted March 3, 2014 And here's the home uniform.Wow that is RED!!!Yeah, the bright red numbers being on the shoulders is a bit crazy. Also, its a bad angle, but it seems like the chest numbers aren't as digital-y?Video Link Below:http://www.buccaneers.com/multimedia/videos/Making-the-Uniform-Behind-the-Scenes/6db023d6-2c97-400d-aae0-3111b41d9518
-kj 2,395 Posted March 3, 2014 Looks like the "cuts" in the white numbers are silver, so they're not as noticeable.

Kinda reminds me of Marylands uniforms however, but Nike instead of Under Armor. Must be the red.
BlueSky 423 Posted March 3, 2014 Here's a video showing the unis in all their glory.
drakexedge 13 Posted March 3, 2014 So...isn't this dark pewter really just brown? It looks like the Browns modernized and added a pinkish red. The brown and red look totally discordant in a way that the old red / lighter pewter didn't.That's it! The pewter when used in flat materials just looks like a dull brown and neither the red or orange are working well with it.The old uniforms used a metallic pewter so it had some life to it and they showed restraint by only including it on the pants and helmets and even then it never directly touched orange or red. Like I said above, it's just a horrible display of color application. Not balanced at all.The old pewter was more brown, and that drove me crazy. True pewter is more gray in color, and that's what I'm hoping for when official images are released.
RyanMcD29 824 Posted March 3, 2014 I'm now thinking although this isn't gonna save this set by any means, the roads might look a tad better by swapping the pewter on top with red. I kinda like how the red and orange pop on the homes, but again that's about all that's redeeming as is.
AgentColon 82 Posted March 3, 2014 I did notice white pants laying on the table back there.
bowld 2,146 Posted March 3, 2014 I gotta admit..after seeing them on the video my opinion has changed slightly. I actually think these will grow on me. One thing that wont however is the ship only being on 1 sleeve. Put the ship on both sides and this could work for me
Sport 14,093 Posted March 3, 2014 I can't adequately express through words how much I hate these so I'm just going to keep repeating myself and maybe my emotions will come across through sheer volume.
Guy_Gardner 42 Posted March 3, 2014 The more I look at this, the more I see Tennessee's uniforms with a drastic recolor. That font is inexcusable.
BlueSky 423 Posted March 3, 2014 In the brief flash they show @ 2:28 into the video, the ship appears to have some depth, like the raised logos on some MLB batting helmets.
