Tampa Bay Buccaneers Getting New Logo, Helmet & Uniforms

For the folks who'll say the look will grow on people, I'd like to bring up what Nike did to the Broncos set 17 years ago.

They still don't look right, especially compared to the orange crush versions.

Now we have five Nike sets, and I think Seattle and Minnesota are pretty solid. The Vikes look like they did before the previous Reebok disaster. Seattle did take a while to grow and their Super Bowl combo looked great.

I'd like to see Philly get a retro look like Minny back to the kelly green like a previous poster mentioned.

I like the uniforms, but here's my concern about the numbers. What was the priority when designing these? I suspect it was more about designing something to showcase Nike's reflective material than it was to give Tampa something that best fit their identity.

I think you nailed it. It's just not the right font for this identity.

The more I look at these, the more I feel like the Bucs just said, "What 'innovations' do you guys have? Great, throw every single one of them into our uniform."

Clearly whoever green-lit this did not realize the difference between being on the cutting edge and careening headlong off a cliff.

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

Well we can at least hope that they choose to wear the red socks with the pewter pants. My prediction: Red socks show up maybe two times this season, then they are never to be seen again.

I think you're giving them too much credit. We'll see them once in the preseason and then never again.

Besides, it's a uniform set that's 2 years in the making...do you really think this was the first draft, and they were like, "well I guess we can settle on this... "

Common sense people. Just because you're not happy with the uniforms doesn't make it okay to criticize a process that you know nothing about. The team is happy, the players are happy, and that's all that matters. It will win over the fans in time.

That's not really true. A team doesn't want its fans to hate the team's uniforms. There's a financial incentive to have good looking uniforms. And I'm not sure it will win over the fans in time.

These are terrrible by college standards. I guess the Bucs decided to complete the trio of terrible looking Florida teams.

Agree, best dressed football team in Florida is .....Seminoles?

So, now that we've seen more pics with better color:

1. I hate pewter. Such an awful color. This might be slightly better than the old pewter, and I think the pewter/white combo looks better than the pewter/red, but the original picture looked more black. Not liking it as much in the light.

2. The red jersey looks awful. Do not like the red on pewter at all.

3. I do not like how the shoulder treatment is discontinuous on the back of the jersey. That just looks bad.

4. The numbers are dumb, especially the reflective material on the red jersey. They don't look too bad on the front, but the oversized numbers on the back look bad (as with other recent rebrabds).

5. Still haven't seen a good side view of the pant striping. It looked alright in the first image this morning, but I'm not sure what exactly is going on there.

6. The helmet logo looks alright to me. Yeah, it's huge, but I think the overall effect is interesting.

7. The nonmatching sleeve logo/Bucs thing is weird, but doesn't effect the look much at all. Doesn't seem to look bad. At least they didn't put a logo/word mark under the collar (aside from the NFL logo).

Anyway, the road set looks decent, the home set looks garish, the numbers are dumb, and Pewter is still an awful, awful color.
