Chewbacca
I am really happy for the people that do like the Buccaneers' new uniforms because I do not like them at all. Ever since I saw the Creamsicle throwback, that has been my favorite Bucs uniform since. Personally, I know it won't happen but I kind of wish that this will be stopped like the 1991 49ers logo change. I think they should have left their look alone. Their last uniforms were actually quite good and excellent compared to this. The red and pewter was a decent color scheme but now, they have made a mess of it in my opinion. The pewter so far looks like a smeared turd on the shoulders and the number font....... yikes, definitely not my cup of tea. Here's what I would have done and I'm definitely not expecting everyone to agree with me but I would have taken their Creamsicle jerseys and made the orange a bit more of a red orange and I would have added pewter, (since it is a unique part of this team's look now and would look good on an orange jersey if done right) to the red and white stripes already there and as trim around the numbers and letters. beruud
Well if people buy a crapton of them, then more @$%# y designs will surface. Its why I will never buy one. I own 7 of the previous and 3 orange. I will save money not buying this monstrocity. Please do not fool yourself, the Buccaneers jersey is conceptually and creatively an abomination. Read the "FANFARE" Here... Cosmic
Am I the only one who would prefer the uniform to be primarily orange? Like this:Switch the red and the pewter and you'd really have something (or just drop the pewter on the uniforms altogether). I'm sure when they do release an orange alt, though, the shoulders will be pewter. I don't think the fabric pewter is a good match for the helmet pewter. Maybe it wasn't in the old uniforms, either, but they weren't right frickin' next to each other.
TBGKon
With out the slashes the numbers wouldn't actually be that bad.Exactly, they look fine on the home uniforms. It's those piping lines on the away uni that look like garbage.

Crash
The previously scheduled press event on Wednesday, March 5, has been replaced in favor of an exclusive, Buccaneers Season Pass Members-only event featuring the first live viewing of the new uniforms. Further details will be provided at a later date. http://www.buccaneers.com/news/article-1/New-Uniform-Design-Unveiled/b8944519-d276-482a-a9e7-d800fabb9401While I thought that meant that the March 5 2 p.m. press event had been replaced with a different event on March 5 at 2 p.m., it apparently actually meant that the whole thing was rescheduled for some other date and time, which is why we never heard anything.Any news on yesterday's live uniform event? There was none. Expect a public even later this month, for season ticket holders first.https://twitter.com/PewterReport/status/441723907217690624
Cosmic
^ Fine? Yeah, no.Well for me, taking the slashes out of the numbers would move it from "all-time bad" to just normal "bad" or possibly even just "quirky". They are a complete train wreck as-is that sucks any possibility of positive feelings out of me.

Also, it's human nature to play the "If they just..." game but for whatever great ideas people come up with, the unis will not change.I'd be shocked if these look any better on the field but I suppose it's theoretically possible. It's also possible that seeing 11 guys running around in them may trigger ocular hemorrhages.
hugevolsfan
And here are the 6 Away Combos***snip***Maybe this is one of those designs that looks better as a concept instead of the real deal. Here, in 2-D concept form, it doesn't look so bad, heck, it looks pretty good (the thinner-looking orange stripes and lower pants side panels do wonders). But in real life, it just doesn't look good at all.I'm of a similar sentiment: they look pretty good here and comparable to some of the more elaborate concepts that I've seen on this site. They look good here because the numbers are what ruin the uniform, and the 1 and the 4 are probably the best of the numbers we've seen so far of the set. If the same mock up had 89 or something it would look a lot worse. Also the the colors match on these but when it takes the field all the enhanced elements will not match so it will look a lot worse. The helmet will never match the rest of the uniform on the field. It's also possible that seeing 11 guys running around in them may trigger ocular hemorrhages. When I first saw the 4 in the earliest set of pictures, I was almost sorta ready to give the numbers a chance. I thought that if they were all sans slash like that, it wouldn't be much different than some of the other modern, custom fonts. I forgot that between then and now, I saw what the 8 looks like. The number set is pretty much trash, slashes or no (not that that matters, since slashes is what we got).
hawk36
I think a slight tweak on the typeface would be a HUGE improvement as can be seen in the front of the jersey. Still has a "cool for kids" character without being so childish. Design Hovie Studios

tajmccall
When you think of some of the all-time greats - especially towards the end of their careers when they looked noticeably older than college kids - think guys like Bruce Smith, Reggie White, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning - can you imagine them wearing a uniform like this? We'll use Reggie White as an example, because he looked older than his actual age. I can see him in any old-school traditional uniform, but he'd also look perfectly normal in the Bucs last set, the Eagles current set, the Jags Buerlein-era, even the Titans. He would look down right silly as a distinguished-looking older man wearing these uniforms. I mean anyone would look silly in these, but at least younger kids can sorta get away with it.I feel the same way about John Elway in the monochrome Broncos get-up that he modeled. It looked ridiculous on him. I think Peyton looks a little silly in the current Broncos uniform, but maybe I'm just so used to it that I don't find it too offensive. The day that a HOF player is immortalized in a statue depicting him in an outfit like this will be a sad one.Not sily at all. In fact when i am designing concepts that is something i think myself. "How is a 35 year old man going to look in this?". Tou have to find the area between what your audience will like and what your product (players) look in it. I made a post a few days ago about how Nike is focusing on the younger audience and i think we can see that is quite clear and the NFL is on board with itAnd this is why you're a good designer, and the designer, and more importantly the decision makers of this steaming pile are not. FiddySicks
Well, one benefit of this change is that I was able to pick up a few of the old jerseys that I would've never been able to previously. I got a Mark Barron orange game jersey for about $35, and I splurged a bit and got a Nike Elite custom road jersey which was marked down to about $120. I figured I could justify spending the extra money now because it'll likely be the last Bucs gear ever purchase. IceCap
I like the Cowboys' throwbacks and the Titans' current look, both of which use contrasting shoulder yokes. So I tried to look at these through that lens. No dice. I think it's the pewter. It's just not a colour that works in the amount they're using it here. The numbers are, of course, ridiculous. It's not as simple as removing the notches though. The chrome fabric only highlights the digital watch styling, and both of those are completely at odds with the classic pirate aesthetic. The logos still look like knock-off versions of the ones they replaced. The incredibly shiny pewter helmet looks at odds next to the flat matte pewter on the jerseys and pants. I also don't like how the shiny pewter lessons the cannonball effect. The chrome mask just looks silly. I have to question how practical all of that shiny headgear will prove to be during games in the Florida afternoon sun.The pants look awful. When did everyone decide that pants stripes weren't going to go the length of the pants? The wordmark on one sleeve with the alternate logo on the other sleeve looks rec league. The new shade of red looks way to bright. The old red had a deep, crimson-esque quality that fit the pirate theme really well. This new shade is just standard red. It comes off as a downgrade. So yeah, nothing's growing on me. illini1
There's got to be an orange jersey coming. That's the only reason the have orange socks. They don't look right with either of those jerseys.
illini1
The person that said they look like the XFL's San Francisco Demons is absolutely right...That pitchfork looks a lot like Arizona St.'s new pitchfork logo that debuted a couple years ago. illini1
Tried to fix the yoke stripes.. it looks much better this way. square-ish front shoulder match the square pattern on back jersey. + it looks tougher than the original stripes.please just do this if u cant change the fonts, yokes & asymetric sleeves logo... bucs. They could've done this too if they would've used Nike's New jersey template that some college teams like Oregon use.
