Fox Sports Cardinals: Everything you hate about the Cardinals in the form of a TV broadcast.

Other than Al Hrabowsky's off the wall comments what's bad about it?

I for one, while love watching Cards games, would much rather listen to Mike Shannon tell me about the game. Yesterday was perfect. College football muted on the tube while listening to the Cards game on the radio.

Besides, anything is better than WGN :P

Psssst!........hey Dodgers. They're not going away.

Still another month to play, but I like what I'm seeing lately. I wrote them off after July and they just refuse to die. If anything, I like that they're being so scrappy.

Why does Mike Shannon do play-by-play while John Rooney is sitting right there? It's like crawling on your hands and knees while your dog walks on his hind legs.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Another in a list of bonehead decisions that Jerry Reinsdorf has done (in running off Rooney), and for some strange reason, he keeps Hawk Harrelson around "broadcasting" games.

One of those condescending clowns was talking about a family of four they had met whose members were split half and half between Cubs and Cardinals. He went on to say "Well, half of 'em or winners and half of 'em are losers!" to which the other laughed. And this is after the Cubs had won the first two games of the series in convincing fashion. Aside from being supremely despicable touters of "The Cardinal Way" and all of its "we are superior and therefore entitled to winning" philosophies, they're also pretty awful commentators in my opinion. They're annoying as hell and they hardly ever have anything insightful to add to the broadcast.

With regards to :censored: ing Len and JD, I've wanted a new announcing tandem for the Cubs even in the Len and Bob days when the broadcast was tolerable because Brenley's insight could sometimes trump Kasper's vapidity.

It's nice to see the Cubs being fun late in the year, but I often wonder if we're allowed to have fun.

You spoke too soon. ^_^. That being said, what I've seen the past few weeks is remarkably promising. I'll blame Murphy's Law and Rick Renteria for these past two losses to the Fardinals, but it's been absolutely enthralling watching the Cubs sweep the O's (especially as a Cubs fan living in the DC-Baltimore metro area heehee) and continue to perform admirably against the Reds and Cardinals. Guys like Alcantara, Soler, and Hendricks have really added to what was already a promising pool of young talent.

He's obsessed with the idea of ex-players doing play-by-play. He replaced Harry Caray with Chicago baseball legend Don Drysdale. He just really likes their company. Reportedly, off mic, Ed Farmer is basically Reinsdorf's personal court jester, regaling him with Ye Olde Base Ball Stories to make him feel special.

We're not superior because we're entitled to win, we're superior because we do win :D I get all the Cardinals haters. I really do. We have had quite an arrogant air to fan base the past decade. Didn't the Yankees in their hey dey? Or Red Sox fans every other year? :D

The reason we have Mike Shannon over Rooney is because Shannon was behind Buck for years. Rooney will take over when Shannon is done here in a few years. I mean c'mon. You gotta love a drunk sounding Shannon saying "Welcome to Cincinnapolis".

That wouldn't surprise me about Farmer. He's a boob. He was tolerable as the color guy because Rooney kept him in check and talked over him when Ed just blabbered during the start of plays. Now we'll get Ed finishing the damn story about Notre Dame no matter what is happening on the field. Oh, and that's a double by Abreu.

But Reinsdorf didn't run Rooney out of town. His contract was up and the Cardinals made him an offer. He is a StL-area native and wanted to go home. Now, he only got that chance because the Sox switched their radio partner from WMVP to the Score that year. As it turns out, the radio guys are technically employees of the radio station, and even though the Sox certainly have veto power (the Score suggested Mike North when they had him on an albatross deal), the Score is ultimately the one picking guys and signing them to deals. Anyway, they made Rooney what he considered to be an insulting deal, so he decided to just move to St. Louis. And it's a damn shame for Sox fans, going from having one of the best PBP guys in baseball to having Ed Farmer Live, with periodic baseball updates.

Oakland took all their precautions to get their best pitchers in line for the four-game series against the Angels. They even worked it around to alternate left/right-handers. The Angels couldn't even name a starting pitcher for Saturday's game. They had to throw out eight relievers in that game.

And the Angels swept them. All four games (including a shutout in the reliever game). Damn does that feel good.

Five-game lead as we turn to September. I'll more than take that.

I would love to see three AL West teams in the playoffs. If the Mariners can get in against Oakland I like their chances with Felix Hernandez on the mound in a one game playoff. I probably would not watch another Tigers-A's playoff matchup.

Right now though I'm pulling the hardest for Kansas City. I find myself checking the standings just for them every day.

We'll see though.
