Apparently, the Angels are going to sign Vlad Guerrero to a one-day contract so he can retire as an Angel at the opener tonight. (If the Google translated RDS article is to be believed.)

Interesting that he spent 8 years in Montreal and 6 as an Angel, but he did get his MVP here, and he can't exactly sign with the Expos. (And if he signed with the Nats, that wouldn't really matter.)

I couldn't resist the urge to post this.

It's finally baseball season!

Better than this crap:

Anyways, Blue Jays lose, Reyes hurt. What else is new?

Mabey if the Rays pretend/prepare to become the Expos.....

Oh, Angels.

Get me all excited with a Mike Trout home run in the first, a pretty good Jered Weaver start, and then the bullpen comes in. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Today's Giants/Dbacks game sure was one rollercoaster of a game. Giants were done by 4 at one point but still managed to win, mostly through a 4-run 7th inning.

Heart attack baseball indeed.

It would be weird if the Giants were to do it any other way. What a great Opening Day. Nothing beats seeing your team pick up a big win in the other teams park! :P

Thought it was interesting that when Bonds was introduced to the Pittsburgh crowd (prior to giving McCutch the MVP trophy), the PA only recognized Bonds as the 1990 and 1992 MVP winner. No mention of Bonds being baseball's all-time home run leader (unless I missed it).

With that said, it looks like Bonds is trying to lose the hardass-ego maniac side of him and be more personable. Great idea for him to accept the invite, be applauded by the Pirates' crowd, and present the trophy.

Just highlighting his Pirates career.

Don Baylor broke his femur catching Vladimir Guerrero's first pitch tonight.

That's the Angels for you. Freak incidents, tragedies, and more often than not, awful play.

So, which of those categories do the Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols contracts fall under?

That was weird, does Don Baylor have some type of bone disease? I know he had a bout with cancer about 10 years ago.

Well, Opening Night for the M's sure went better then I thought... I mean, 10 runs against a decent Anaheim team is nothing to scoff at.

I just hope this is a sign of good things to come.

They actually fall under the "comedy" category, which is not listed.

The Rays performed better than I expected them to be. Price pitched well and the offense did produced runs (which was a major issue last year). Also, the Trop had a new renovation and thought it looked really nice with the porch deck extending all the way across the concourse which meant fans can still watch the game while moving (which was never possible in previous iterations of the stadium) .

Happy Opening Day, Astros and Yankees fans!

I don't understand why MLB doesn't have every team open on Opening Day. They could have easily scheduled this series for Monday-Wednesday instead of Tuesday-Thursday. One of the few times I've ever felt sorry for Yankee fans; I hate it when the Mets open on day 2.

...?

I mean, I see your point, but it's not exactly something that is tearing anyone up, at least that I know of. I figured that the sight of your name was going to be something about Bobby Parnell and the very Mets-like bit of luck it is for the closer to be injured already one game into the season. THAT pretty well sucks.
