PhantomDreamer
A little surprising tidbit about La Russa. He wants "people with stronger metrics and analytical contributions than we currently have."I say it's surprising because I've heard him go on and on defending Jeter's defense. McCall
Maybe he wasn't the right guy for the rebuilding effort, but what is Bo Porter supposed to do with that Astros team? They lost 111 games last year and that was probably a good managerial effort on his part. He's got the Astros 8 games up on the Rangers, they won't lose 100 games for the first time since 2010, and they play in a division with Anaheim, Oakland, and Seattle. You have to give somebody a little grace when your team was so completely in shambles like the Astros have been. It had nothing to do with the on-field play. Lunhow took responsibility for the team make-up. He and Porter didn't get along. Evidently he rubbed a lot of people te wrong way. Some personnel and players have defended him, some were said to have told Crane to "get him away from your players" after their initial team meeting after he was hired, in which he was said to have constantly interrupted Lunhow and management when they were trying to speak. Then you had Lunhow bringing or sneaking Appel in for a bullpen session at Minute Maid Park and not telling Porter who found out about it when asked by a reporter. In summary, there were a few issues. https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall
crownking30
Ron Washington resigns as manager of the Texas Rangers.Good luck in your future endeavors, Mr. Washington. You should be respected for the two American League pennants. It shouldn't be forgotten. I'm sure he'll manage somewhere else. Maybe in the National League. The_Admiral
A little surprising tidbit about La Russa. He wants "people with stronger metrics and analytical contributions than we currently have." Actually, La Russa managed rather progressively in Chicago and Oakland such that he got crap for being a young brainiac who wasn't to be trusted by Real Baseball Men. It wasn't until about midway through his time in St. Louis that he ossified into a cranky old bat who couldn't process anything more profound than "throw a baseball at some guy's head." ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

FiddySicks
Ron Washington resigns as manager of the Texas Rangers. That's a shame. I've always liked him, and was actually pretty upset when he didn't get the A's job after the 06 season. He's had some personal issues, but he really knew how to get the best out of his players. Hopefully he can get back to managing soon enough. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) dfwabel
Jon Daniels says it's not drug related. With Porter being fired and Washington resigning, McClendon is the only black manager left.It also looked as if Jon Daniels was crying prior and the statement was released only 30 minutes before the presser. It still takes reporters awhile to get to The Ballpark, hence why the Morning News beat writer, Even Grant got there in the middle of it.Management isn't talking about this ever again but I won't be surprised I'd the true reason comes out this weekend. See Red
Jeter still has great saber metric stats, and there are things that make for good players that saber metrics simply does not account for, one of those being their ability on defenseAre you saying there aren't Sabermetrics that can give a look into how good somebody is defensively? More importantly, are you saying Jeter is good defensively? According to the advanced statistics, Jeter has cost his team more runs than any player ever. He hasn't been good (or not bad) defensively in a long, long time.
