Jason Collins to the Nets

I think when it's all said and done, they'll be the 3 seed.

Washington's going to put up a good charge as well, but after Indiana and Miami, the East is anyone's game and the Nets are starting to gel just at the right time.

Atlanta's toast, Charlotte is Charlotte. The Bulls and Raptors will fall a bit.

I think it ends like this:

1. Miami

2. Indiana

3. Brooklyn

4. Washington

5. Toronto

6. Chicago

7. Charlotte

8. Detroit (They're going to start playing aaaaaaany day now :-) )

Wait, what?

The Raptors are 25-13 since the Rudy Gay trade, and have SEVEN remaining games vs teams over .500

Hollinger's projecting them to finish 48-34... the Nets would need to finish 22-6 to match that record.

Not happening. Hate to disappoint everyone, but the Raptors are winning the Atlantic.

Well someone's a little generous, this is the same team that's lost to the Sixers, Cavs, and Magic TWICE.

Also, Brooklyn ain't goin up that high, they'll make the six seed due to virtue of Atlanta plummeting, the Raptors and Bulls are good enough to hold down those spots.

In. Deed. Hats off to Brooklyn, because they once again pave the way for tolerance in pro sports but it's the Raptors' time to shine :P

I guaran-damn-tee that the Raptors fall out of first and the Nets win the Atlantic. They're only 4 games out as it is. They've got virtually the same record since Jan 1. But It's the Raptors, man. They always collapse. They've just prolonged it a bit this year. It'll be a close battle but no. And I'm still putting them at #5. That's generous.

Honestly, my first thought was "who cares?", but that was because I saw that it was for a 10-day contract. It took me awhile to remember who Collins was. I agree with some who believe this was a publicity stunt. Congrats to him on being the first openly gay player to play an NBA game.

What is this now, his 4th-5th different team he's been on? I can think of BKN, The Wiz, The Celts, and ATL, but I cant help but to think he was on one more team. Maybe he'll set a record for most teams played for over the course of a career (Shaq holds the record, doesn't he?)

No. He has played for 6 (technically 7) different teams, the New Jersey Nets, Memphis, Minnesota, Atlanta, Boston, Washington, and Brooklyn. So that's 6, he's a journey-man big, who can defend the post and grab rebounds.

Also, the record for most teams played for is a four-way-tie between Chucky Brown, Jim Jackson, Tony Massenburg, and Joe Smith. I'm assuming you haven't heard of any of them.

Shaq, meanwhile has played with 6, and the last 3 were all for one-season only. The majority of his career was between the Magic, Lakers, and Heat. That's 16 of his 19 seasons right there. Not even near the top and is tied, for 158th for most franchises ever played for.

Jan Brewer is about to make a choice as to whether or not Arizona will end up looking like a bunch of fools.

PFFFFFT!!!! That ship sailed YEARS ago.

If he gets significant playing time in this 10-day contract, his stats:

0.5 PPG

1.5 REB/GM

5 FOULS/GM

His role when he was with the Hawks was to pester Dwight Howard and to buy the Hawks 6 extra fouls. Didn't work so well in 2010. Worked a lot better the following season.

That'd be Drew Gooden--Grizzlies, Magic, Cavs, Bulls, Kings*, Spurs*, Mavericks, Clippers, Bucks...and currently rumored to be signed by the Wizards.

*don't think he actually netted any minutes with the Kings or Spurs, though

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

I wouldn't take that bet.

Worth noting that Jason Collins's 98 jersey (which he hasn't even worn yet) is the best-selling jersey on NBA.com today. Unfortunately for me, it's only available in screen-printed Swingman and only in adult sizes. If the Nets sign him for the rest of the season they'll make more merchandise available. Fingers crossed for more reason than one now.

Wow. That is very interesting. I was expecting top 10, but not 1. Wonder how long that'll last.
