...where did this desire for brown helmets come from? Are you people blind or something?

You don't want that. The Packers don't want that. Nobody should.

Honestly, the helmet is the one thing they should change, even if it's just from orange to brown. They are the Cleveland Browns, not the Cleveland Oranges....

Cleveland-Browns-fan-facepalm.jpg

IMO, they have one of the strongest brands in sports with that orange helmet. They fought to keep the helmet from going to Baltimore. They're not going to change the helmet nor they should they.

That only looks terrible because it was paired with a blue and yellow jersey. You put a orange and white stripe on it, with the current Browns uniforms, it will look snazzy. I've seen concepts on here that do that and they look fantastic.

Only in the minds of Cleveland fans. IMHO it's not a strong brand, it's a non-brand, one that is mocked by others.

The only reason they keep the orange helmet is tradition, not because it looks good. Much like the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers, it doesn't matter how strong the rebrand concept is, people are going to hate it because it's different.

IMO them, cowboys, bears, and packers have the strongest brands in the NFL, that doesn't mean they are all good, but they are all should never change major things like in the browns case the helmet.

Of course you find the worst example possible. Here are some gorgeous brown helmets for you:

I would rather have brown helmets, but these look good too.

The orange helmet is staying and people just need to deal with that fact! Besides Brown would be hideous! Have you seen Wyoming?

Only in the minds of Cleveland fans? NON-BRAND? They're the logoless football team and it's been that way for 50+ years. In my opinion that's one of the strongest brands in the NFL. Other NFL teams would kill for their kind of brand strength.

A brown turd helmet worn with turd jerseys and turd pants wouldn't be mocked by others? The Browns are mocked by others because of years of ineptitude not because they wear orange helmets. Also, there's no way they would be mocked less if they switched to brown helmets.

Tradition is a factor in a brand's strength. That's why the Leafs and Rangers went back to their classic looks. If you change the Browns classic helmet then you're dumping that and you're just another football team with another helmet. Plus, I think a brown helmet would just flat out look worse than the orange one.

People are throwing around the term "strong brand". IMO, the Browns don't have a "strong brand" just because their uniforms are old. IMO, they have one of the ugliest uniforms in NFL history, and it needs to finally be changed from head to toe.

the fact that it hasn't been changed to so long means its a strong brand.

IMO, that brand needed to be changed a long time ago.

Another team folding into Nike's horrible redesign. The league is losing track of what it once was. If I were a Cleveland Fan I would be utterly pissed.

All 7 of them agree with you

We all know the Browns have at least 20 fans.

2013 NFL Attendance;

Cleveland Browns - 569,939 total, 71,242 average (11th place overall)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (for instance) - 470,548 total, 58,818 average (29th place overall)

Considering the product that Browns fans have had to deal with you could argue that they are ridiculously loyal. (And I am not a Browns fan.)

That is an insane number considering the terrible product. Which shows there is a very strong brand there, and no need to change their identity.

That is a solid fanbase there. I've always admired their loyalty and passion. If there is a football God out there, I hope that he pays those fans back for all the s**t they've been through.

What's the problem? The football Gods have rewarded the Cleveland Browns with two recent Super Bowl wins in 2000 and 2012, A reward for getting the hell out of Cleveland and changing their name to the Baltimore Ravens! :P

While trying to make an argument for brown helmets you inadvertently posted a handful of pictures of some truly awful looking helmets.

I believe switching the helmet from orange to brown would be idiotic. Thankfully it isn't happening.

Are people really surprised that a conversation revolving around Nike, Cleveland, and old vs new is unproductive? All we need is for someone to bring up Native American relations and we'll have every hot button topic covered.

Are ANY of our discussions here productive?
