Soundwave721
I've been mad since EA shut down Teambuilder for NCAA 12 a few months ago and have been wondering what games have the best Create a team, Create a player modes. From the games I have I've learned: Team Builder is great but, after a while you realize how limited it is, Madden's is laughable, NBA 2k's doesn't realize how basketball uniforms work, and don't get me started on NHL's abomination. Discrim
As far as anything I've actually played (granted, I still play a ps2, haven't bothered to get a ps3 or 360), soccer games have tended to have the best creation modes in my experience (FIFA's was crap, but Pro Evo/WE and World Tour Soccer had great kit editors). Not 100% on this, but if uni editors in the newer games have gotten anywhere near the level of Out of the Park, let alone Pro Evo, I'd be surprised as hell
FiddySicks
MLB 13 The Show has a great create a team mode in Diamond Dynasty, but unfortunately it can't be used for any other mode. Hopefully this changes with the upcoming release.

AgentColon
I hated the player models and gameplay for backbreaker. Damn shame.
VictoriaGooner
I am a fan on Football Manager for creation mode for both leagues and players...it's basic but very well designed.
cappital92
One of the things I loved about FIFA on the DS was that you could draw your own crest with the stylus. Also, All-Star Baseball had a fun expansion mode. Good amount of cities and stadiums, but the names and logos were meh.
LEWJ
I've always liked EA's NHL games' create-a-team.
El Scorcho
I'm all over this thread. Every time I buy a sports game the first thing i'll do is create a team full of me and my friends, so I get quite deep into the creation modes in the games I buy. MLB The Show 13's creation mode for Diamond Dynasty mode is comfortably the best team creation tool I have ever seen. You can do basically anything. It was a massive shame they didn't make it available for a create-a-team mode in offline play. I haven't played for a few years but the Pro Evolution Soccer team creation used to be top notch. My friends and I would do a big fantasy draft to put together teams to use against eachother, and once it was sorted, as the resident uniform geek I spent hours putting together uniforms for all 7 teams Madden and NHL are just okay. They'd benefit a hell of a lot from having the ability for people to create their own logos and import them into the game. I know there is the whole online creation centre but it's not as convenient as just doing it in game. The limited amount of very average logos and team names really stifles me creatively. The NBA games i've played have all been absolutely awful because your uniforms never really seem to look like basketball uniforms. I really like the way EA ran the competition for people to enter uniforms for expansion teams, and I feel like they'd benefit from having a uniform afficionado on hand when designing the base uniforms for these sorts of games. FIFA's Creation Centre is pretty good, though they didn't end up introducing any new templates this year which was a little frustrating. They didn't include it in FIFA 14 Next-Gen so it'll be interesting to see if it's back next year.
