History of a Fictional Football League (1991 Postseason: Semifinals)

That... is weird.  The writeup was the rough draft.  The 35-32 score came from the scoring summary and is correct.  There was a lot more going on in the fourth quarter than in the one I posted.  I've updated it now.

Upset, lots of points, lots of points, and...one touchdown.

Bummed about the Firebirds, but the '91 Whales may have secured their place as a throwback uniform in the future.

Dude, the only team with a championship out of any of these four won it in the '50s. This is what I like to see.

And the other 3 didn't even exist back then (unless the new whales have the same history as the old whales do.

Whales and Crows for the championship. Doubt I'm right so screw it. California Whales wins the championship.

I'm going for some Captain and Co-I mean, Crow in the Victory Bowl. Don't think we'll beat the Captains but winning the Victory Bowl would be pretty insane.

The old Whales and new Whales do share a history, but you're right about the Victory Cup going somewhere new.  Since 1984, the Victory Bowl has not only been repeatedly won by the same, small group of teams (with Detroit and Cincinnati alone claiming 5 of the past 6).  They're evenly grouped geographically!  Since 1984, all of the winners have been clustered in an area roughly centered around Columbus, OH.  No team from more than 170 miles from that point has won a championship since the Cents did it in 1983.

As a matter of fact, the Victory Cup will without question be claimed by a franchise that has never held it before.  As you mentioned, of the four remaining teams, only Boston has a title (Kansas City doesn't even have a Victory Bowl berth), which they won in 1954.  This was so long ago that the Victory Cup didn't even exist yet. It's been a long time coming.

Well that was some interesting games to say the least. I really hope the Whales are somehow able to defeat Boston. I think Boston will win it this year though unfortunately. I was really counting on Chicago winning it all instead.

This is setting up for a Whales and/or Firebird upset. I can feel it.

Almost got both! I'll take picking arguably one of biggest upsets in AFA playoff history though!

Does Vegas do fictional sports world gambling numbers? If so can anyone tell me?

I just remembered this is the final year of the current ABC TV contract... 🤔

Assuming that TV follows OTL, if Fox wanted to make a big splash, now would be the best time to do so. Because after all, what this league needs is a ripoff of Gundam Maxter so blatant that Bandai should bankrupt Fox giant CGI robot.

I think the AFA (assuming they are as popular as the NFL was in 1991/92) would be too big for just 1 TV network. I don't think conferences would form from TV discussions, but I could see each division getting a different deal with a major network. For example: Southern & Western = FOX, Northeastern & Central = ABC, Southeastern = NBC, and Northern = CBS)

The AFA almost went with two networks at the last renewal.

Prior to the USFA's craziness, it had been thought that ABC was a lock to stay with the league, but with NBC a free agent again, all bets are off, and Fox has made its interest known.
