Sucks. Hope it didn't happen, by which I mean I hope it really didn't happen, not "I hope steps will be taken to say that this didn't happen."

That seems like horrible reporting. There isn't anything in that article that implies that an assault took place, unless she's claiming something happened during the period that she can't remember.

"The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed."

It's sad that it's gotten to the point that the plethora of false claims against celebrities makes me roll my eyes whenever there's an accusation like this. The logic I always use is that you know damn well what's going to happen when you go to a famous guy's hotel room/house.

And then there's the one about the woman who went up to Jon Franzen's room, only for him to show off his birdwatching journals, mumble something about how he should be the one whose commencement speeches are published as books, and then politely dismiss her.

No matter what is probably going to happen, if she isn't not feeling it 100% the guy needs to stop. There is absolutely no excuse for forcing yourself on an unwilling or unable to consistent person. The blame falls squarely on the guy in these types of situations.

And there's a difference between false reports, and claims that are dropped because of other reasons. I'm willing to bet that most cases fall under the other reason category. The girls who report these rapes are harassed daily, threatened with death from "fans", judged beyond measure, have their name sullied forever, and lose a lot of relationships because people don't believe them. I find it hard to believe that they would subject themselves to all of that just for their 15 minutes of fame.

Yeah, I'm not buying it. There are too many details that just don't add up.

Who slips a Micky to a woman they've already had sex with consensually?

Best part of that whole article (which is really terrible in the first place) was the comment at the bottom:

"SO...

Unnamed woman admits to doing drugs, willingly gets naked, does not have sex, can't remember anything else.
I should file a police report on myself every weekend, I guess. :/"

Yeah, I've been hearing that "why did she think she was going up there?" crap since the Tyson rape. It's hard to believe that's where we still are. What was she wearing? What was she doing there by herself? At that time of night? Yet we so rarely ask what the guy was doing forcing himself on people. Rape is notoriously hard to prove for several reasons. But just because someone gets acquitted or the case gets dropped does not mean the accuser accused falsely (in fact, she probably did not).

The statistics don't have any bearing on one case so, like always, I am not able to tell what happened here. But the immediate assumption that the girl is a slut and/or liar is tragic. It's very empowering to rapists.

That summed it up oh so nicely.

If we haven't learned from the Jameis Winston case, you actually need facts to back up these pointless allegations in a hope to profit from it financially or for the attention.

I still think it's important for this to be investigated, because you never know. There was nobody "forcing themself" on her. You can't just imply that from these allegations, OnWis97. There is no justice in assuming. Innocent until proven guilty. There isn't a shred of evidence tat he is guilty. So let's not assume.

Where did I say that?

All I said is that rape is hard to prove and most allegations are not false. I also said that case-by-case (i.e., this case) I don't know what happened.

As for "The logic I always use is that you know damn well what's going to happen when you go to a famous guy's hotel room/house", people should be careful with that...it will be mistaken (or maybe not mistaken) as supporting the right to do whatever you want to a girl just because she went to your room. A girl does not owe you anything because she went up to your room and you got horny.

From what was written in this little story, this does not look like much of a case at this point. My point was about the larger picture; there is no crime where we blame the victim more than in rape. And when you get a significant portion of the male population saying "what did she think was gonna happen in his room" it's no wonder.

Terrible people. Rapists. :censored:s. There's a long list of men with sex and power issues who attack women, even women who they otherwise need no force to have sex with.

Depending on the source, one in four or one in six women has been the victim an attempted or completed rape. This happens every day to lots of people, including women you know who haven't told you.

MOD EDIT "facts" don't exist because the Tallahassee police department is a bunch of corrupt scumbags.
