Got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by San Jose tonight. Contributions from the missing links, crowd giving off good enthusiasm as they should and limited amount of penalties. I suspect the home ice advantage will matter alot in this series, but hey, they could actually not suck this time and bounce the Kings in five, even though that ain't gonna happen.

Thank God, the Sharks will survive a subpar 3rd and get Game 1.

Glad the Sharks held on to win, but that was a pathetic third period for the Sharks. Laziness (standing still in own zone), bad puck possession which led to giveaways. The Kings don't need any help, they're very very good. The Sharks are extremely lucky they started so well, because they finished

I'm excited we took game one, but still lots of work to do...

Sharks simply out-hustled, out-muscled and out-dexteritied the Kings tonight. Not taking that 3rd period seriously, since those LA goals were normal shots Niemi would have stopped if he wasn't bored with the outcome already (which all the Sharks players felt like in the last 20 minutes).

Hope this debauchery is the call to arms the Kings need for Sunday's Game 2.

That's the thing though. It's the playoffs. You can't get "bored" mid game. You'd think the Sharks would've learned that after the million previous playoff series they've coughed up before this series. It's definitely nice to get game one, but Jesus, stay focused! What if they get "bored" in a close game two?

I don't trust this team as far as I can throw Prince Fielder, and I'm not that strong of a guy.

I hate being this cynical, but come on now, this is the San Jose Sharks were talking about. I think they've given the fans plenty of reason to be skeptical.

/CS85 style rant over.

the only downside of it is that Mike Haynes is a completely insufferable douche about it. Listen to his call of the GTG if you wish; it's really bad.

(it makes sense that Colorado has more goals with the net empty than average because Patrick Roy pulls the goalie with much more time left than the average coach. It's refreshing. There still has to be some degree of out-of-whack averages going on here and that likely regresses next year for Colorado but whatever wins them games this year is worth a shot [no pun intended]. Erik Johnson taking that puck off the goal-line as it looked like Zach Parise had found an ENG was incredible.)

I disagree with that, as an Avs fan, I somewhat agree with what he was saying. It's basically something we've come to expect from the Avs this season. I mean, how many times have the Avs tied the game within the last 120 seconds after pulling the goaltender?

I love listening to the Avalanche announcers, though, I prefer listening to Moser (radio) over anything, because his calls are just awesome, they really get you into it and you don't even have to be watching it.

On a side note; shouldn't Johnson get credit for a save on that play?

I just spent a lot of money on a ticket to game 4 in Columbus.

I missed out on the playoffs in 2009 because I was going to school in Athens, didn't have a car, and probably didn't have more than $11 to my name. I decided I wasn't going to miss out this time.

If you can get it all the way down there, CBC.ca has perfectly legal (not that that matters ;) ) and usually better than the other streams you can get.

Did I mention it's free without a membership? Great for someone with no TV.
