Evil G 99 Posted April 25, 2014 I'd be for it. There isn't just one team in California.
Lights Out 4,903 Posted April 25, 2014 I prefer that they don't change it since the team is the Bay Area's team and not just one city's teamBut they aren't the "Bay Area Warriors," they're the Golden State Warriors despite only being one of four teams in the state. Not to mention, in a vacuum, it sounds like a college team name. Changing the name to San Francisco makes sense and is the right move.
Lights Out 4,903 Posted April 25, 2014 1. The Warriors' uniforms don't really require the city name to be present, and if they do, the font is small enough to negate length.Simple fixes:
the admiral 28,732 Posted April 25, 2014 Why don't you just put "San Francisco Warriors" all the way around like it is now? I love the premise, just not the Copperplate. Did this quick fix a while back:
Soarindude 121 Posted April 25, 2014 Would it be so bad to recommend a color change to the 49ers color scheme?
SFGiants58 14,190 Posted April 25, 2014 I did one too, with Copperplate (I actually like it for the Warriors) and the Golden Gate Bridge:
phutmasterflex 1,186 Posted April 25, 2014 I prefer that they don't change it since the team is the Bay Area's team and not just one city's teamBut they aren't the "Bay Area Warriors," they're the Golden State Warriors despite only being one of four teams in the state. Not to mention, in a vacuum, it sounds like a college team name. Changing the name to San Francisco makes sense and is the right move. When they adapted that name, they were only one of two teams in California and the first one. Having one city name despite representing an entire region with multiple cities doesn't seem to make sense. Either keep the name or rename it to Bay Area Warriors or something in that direction.1. The Warriors' uniforms don't really require the city name to be present, and if they do, the font is small enough to negate length.Simple fixes:That would imbalance the uniform, making it top heavy
TalktoChuck 528 Posted April 26, 2014 I've grown indifferent towards Copperplate in the word mark. But my god, those Copperplate numbers are awful.I'd prefer they drop the font altogether, but they at least need to get a new number font.
Lights Out 4,903 Posted April 26, 2014 That would imbalance the uniform, making it top heavyI fail to see how it's any more top-heavy than this:Or this:Or this:
BBTV 20,107 Posted April 26, 2014 Who said that those weren't top heavy?
4_tattoos 1,474 Posted April 26, 2014 Honestly I can see a not too distant future where Oakland has lost all of it's major sports franchises. It's not the city it once was. I wouldn't blame the Warriors for taking on the San Francisco name. They have to do what's best for business.
TheRicSlick 844 Posted April 26, 2014 I don't get the hate for Copperplate, I actually love that the Warriors use it.
Trapper John 54 Posted April 26, 2014 I never liked the name Golden State to me it sounds like a college team. You know like Fresno State or Dixie State or whatever... The Golden State University Warriors.
phutmasterflex 1,186 Posted April 26, 2014 That would imbalance the uniform, making it top heavyI fail to see how it's any more top-heavy than this:Or this:Or this:Also top-heavy, but it doesn't weight as much visually because the circle isn't filled. Those throwbacks have a good balance.
Shadojoker 1,721 Posted April 26, 2014 To all you smart asses out there..I ALREADY knew about that previous San Fran throwback which I absolutely dislike. All their unis in history OWNS but that one. But I liked the way they fitted the letters nice and center. So yea it can work.Golden state wraps around a circle which is done well with the logo but could've been done better. Example:Golden StateSanFRANCISCO Just my opinion. Anyways
BlackBolt3 1,380 Posted April 26, 2014 I don't care what their name is, if they could bring the trolley cars back, I'd love them for life.
Shadojoker 1,721 Posted April 26, 2014 Phutmasters did it perfect up there!!!
29texan 768 Posted April 26, 2014 Terrible idea.....Why? It was the San Francisco Warriors BEFORE they moved to Oakland. Now that they're moving back to San Fran, it just makes sense...
29texan 768 Posted April 26, 2014 They're returning to San Francisco. Why are people upset over the name change? It's logical. Yeah.If the Rangers moved over to Dallas and changed their name to the Dallas Rangers, no one here could complain about it since the team would actually play IN Dallas. Of course, that would take away the significance of why they're called the Texas Rangers instead of the Dallas or Fort Worth or Arlington Rangers...
waltere 564 Posted April 26, 2014 I'm all for this. Golden State Warriors sounds like a generic name out of a video game which couldn't get the license to use real teams.Plus it's stupid to claim a whole state that has three other teams in it.
