Sounds like Cuban might not vote to remove sterling, or he could we dont know until it happens

I would imagine that some of his aprehension has to do with setting a precedence. Cuban himself has drawn the ire of the league (definitely) and other owners (probably) so he may feel that if this door is opened, at some point he could be the next one shoved through it.

This is a ridiculous argument on Cuban's part. These bylaws have been on the books for a very long time. Cuban has been a lightning rod of controversy to the league for 14 years and counting, and not even once has voting him out even been suggested. Hell, it took 33 years of constant humiliation to the league for a vote to finally be held on Sterling! I think the precedent has been pretty well set that it takes some serious :censored: to be voted out.

If conduct is such a big NBA ownership issue, who is in trouble due to their political contributions or any charges (civil court...to Federal) which an owner faced or will face.

Rich DeVos (Orlando Magic): Not only is a pyramid schemer through Amway, but his family is anti-Gay rights and places their money behind ballot measures against gay rights.

Mickey Arison (Miami Heat): His cruise(s) line has a lot of workers who work under minimum US wage.

Miller Family (Utah Jazz): As members of the LDS Church, they have opinions and possibly conduct to promote the LDS cause which may me not what the NBA would like.

What do they do? All of this is conduct by the owner.

Lastly, do they accepted the Nets ownership, whose oligarchy came from mineral rights. Who mined said minerals?

None of these cases has anything to do with Donald Sterling being a racist.

And having heard it, it sure did sound like she was baiting him into saying these things. It was definitely a dick move by her.

I don't trust either of their words, really.

Eh, bated or not, he still said what he said. If he didn't hold those sentiments he wouldn't have said what he said.
its actually connected because if they vote sterling out this leaves room for them to vote these owners and Cuban out as well, if they get enough support they could vote to keep him in and not have to deal with this problem. Not saying its right but it's definitely a possibility

What's worse, being a blatant racist, or tolerating racism against those of your same ethnicity, or even supporting it, so that you can life a wealthy lifestyle?

I'd say denying people housing based on race is worse then being a shameless gold digger.

No, I think the league has very clearly stated through its actions that the bar is very high before removal will even be considered. Cuban has little to worry about.

And this is the "slippery slope" Mark Cuban was talking about.

But that's not how slippery slope arguments actually work. If the NBA had just created the power to remove an owner now, that would be a slippery slope.

The NBA has always had the power to remove owners. But in actually using it for the first time, they have finally established some parameters on how they will exercise it. This precedent indicates under very limited conditions, and in the most extreme cases.

If anything, this is the opposite of a slippery slope. Instead of "if they can do it to him, they could do it to anyone", we have "this is how extreme your misdeeds have to be before we'll even consider it."

Shelly Sterling to negotiate sale

Disgraced Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has agreed to allow his wife Shelly Sterling to negotiate a forced sale of the team, sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.

Shelly Sterling and her lawyers have been negotiating with the NBA since her husband was banned for life by commissioner Adam Silver on April 29. While the league has yet to formally accept this arrangement, sources said if she is willing to sell the team in its entirety, this could bring a startlingly quick end to what appeared to be a protracted legal battle.

The NBA filed charges to terminate Sterling's ownership of the Clippers this week. He had five business days -- until next Tuesday -- to respond to the charges. A hearing was set for June 3 in New York, with a vote of the full Board of Governors to take place immediately afterwards.

Source: Shelly Sterling 'moving quickly' to sell Los Angeles Clippers

(CNN) -- Los Angeles Clippers co-owner Shelly Sterling is "moving quickly" to sell the embattled NBA franchise, with a source familiar with the situation saying she and her representatives would like to make a deal this week.
The recent activity, including talks with several high-profile potential suitors for the team, comes as Sterling's estranged husband, Donald, faces a midnight Tuesday deadline to respond to the NBA's proposal to terminate his ownership in the team. And on June 3, the NBA's Board of Governors is set to vote on whether to force the Sterlings to sell.
"This looks like the Sterlings are throwing in the towel on any sort of legal fight," said CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin. "They are recognizing that their choice is to sell now or sell later."
Commissioner Adam Silver is "very much involved" in Shelly Sterling's dealings with potential buyers, according to the source.

I wonder if Henry Samueli is interested... Of course if he did buy them, it would be to move them to Anaheim, which could create some problems considering the Clippers just opened up a new, expensive practice facility that is pretty far away from Anaheim.

I doubt Samueli will pass muster with the NBA after the Kings fiasco.

It was too good to be true after all:

@ramonashelburne: Sterling's lawyer Max Blecher tells ESPN that "He's not interested in selling. He's going to fight to the bloody end"

@ramonashelburne: Donald Sterling's lawyer says, "I dont know what agreement she has with him, but he disavows anything shes doing to sell the team"

@ramonashelburne: Donald Sterling's lawyer says, "He was in a state of shock at first. Now hes recovering and hes much more feisty"

Realistically, DTS was always going to have to be forcibly removed, he is just too stubborn and delusional to wake up to the fact that he's not welcome in the NBA anymore and sell willingly. He still doesn't have a leg to stand on, and his lawyers are still probably laughing at him behind his back while they charge him for more and more hours. The NBA realizes this, which is why they weren't fooled by Shelly's act and didn't cancel the hearing.

Looks like Shelly is still going forward with the sale despite her husband's latest senile outburst, as he apparently had already signed a contract with her AND told the NBA in writing that he was authorizing the sale of the team before his tirade. The initial bids are in and the league has already been working on vetting the potential owners.

IMO, the Oprah/Ellison/Geffen group is the early favorite as Mark Walter and Todd Boehly from Guggenheim have joined the group.

The 24-hour news cycle is the worst thing for anyone wanting to follow this.Every report gets contradicted 2 days later. It's better to just sit back, ignore, and wait till it's over (whenever that will be),
