Super Bowl Field Database - Super Bowl LVIII

I've had a few requests lately to post the Super Bowl XLIX field without the team boxes (same as all my other posts). I have been thinking about going back and adding the team boxes to some of the older fields. So what I think I might do is have both fields in the official posts, and then have the field without the team box in a spoiler within the post.

I've said this before, but I will most likely change the Super Bowl logos on this field once I get a better view, which may even be after the game.

What an awful field. I said it in the NFL changes thread, but are the conference/helmet logos really necessary?

Your ability to reproduce these fields is outstanding though.

I'll admit seeng it flat, not that terrible..... I hate the Pat's wordmark, but the blank side doesn't bug me that much. As for Seattle, I would've liked a grey endzone for something different, but all in all I;d say it's a 5.5/10.

When it comes down to it, when watching the game the field isn't as important, its just something nice to look at. The real disappointment from this field is knowing what it could be, and the potential that it has. All the years of great fields should have set a standard for what a Super Bowl field should look like, and now it seems that the NFL just doesn't care anymore. They just want to get the logos on the field and call it a day. No attention to detail, no taking the extra steps to make the field look as great as it could. Just get it done and go home. Of every Super Bowl field I'd say this one ranks either 48th or 49th. That's pretty bad considering that this field is competing for last place with last years field. They did a better job in 1967 when they could hardly afford the paint.

Yeah.. that I can agree with. But still, great work here.... keep it up.

Agreed. The last two years have just been such laziness. Could have had Denver in orange last year, Seattle in gray. This year could have had NE in red, outlined in blue. Some green can be added to Seattle. Just a shame really.

Super Bowl IV Update

Before

ZUgCVwn.png

After

KKMBZwb.png

A few noticeable changes. First, I added the college hashes. I also moved the numbers closer to the yard lines. Added a gold stripe inside the white stripe on the Vikings helmet. Then I discovered the sidelines were painted, which is awesome. Lastly, Tulane Stadium cut into the field a bit in the corners, so that's why the grey is in the corners. Super Bowl's VI and IX were also at Tulane Stadium, so I added the grey corners to those fields as well.

I've mentioned my least favorite fields (XLVIII and XLIX), but Super Bowl IV is my favorite field.

For anyone who likes old games, I found a link to the full game for Super Bowl IV: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x22ay9p_nfl-1970-super-bowl-iv-minnesota-vikings-vs-kansas-city-chiefs_shortfilms

That website also has links to many other full games, so expect a lot of changes for these fields coming, especially for the older games.

Paint the team color borders on the numbers and arrows. You guys have 4 days. Get Busy!!!

I know the NFL won't get that done, but I can fill that request in the alternate Super Bowl fields thread if you want. And I'm just going to guess, you came here from UniWatch?

I never heard of UniWatch to be honest. I will check it out when I have the chance. May the best team win Super Bowl 49 on a simple, bland gridiron.

I'm a Packers fan, so I just finished re-watching Super Bowl 32, as painful as it is to watch the 4th qtr of that game. But that field was really good aside from the numbers not being outlined. That was the beginning of the grass fields not being outlined anymore, which we've seen after the 2000 Ravens Giants game.

It's too bad the numbers don't outlined anymore. Like this year, red outlining on the Patriots side would look cool and then dark blue on the Seahawks side.

The old logos were so much better too. Here's the one thing I do like about the standard logo, the silver logo goes well on any team's uniform.

I am starting to lose all faith in the NFL. Really? Why is the Seahawk endzone the same as last year? And with regards to the Patriots endzone: what is this? college football? Who is in charge of the field design? and why do they think this is a good idea? It's probably the same goon who thinks it's a good idea to have a standardized logo every year for the Super Bowl. I mean for God's sake, at the very least, go back to outlining the 50 in red and blue and the 20s in the team colors. There are not enough words to describe my dislike for this field and the fields of the past 4-7 years.

Agree with all of this.

I was rooting for GB so damn hard, just because I wanted to see some color in the endzones, LOL. Yes, I'm at that point in my NFL viewing. If my Eagles can't get to the SB, then I'll root for the best colors, haha.

How do you reproduce these feilds? This is amazing

I started by making an accurate template (credit SFCOM1 for the NFL rule book and helping me with the template). The I just get images or video of the games and find the logos I need. I re-size the logos to match the relative size as what is on the field, and because I'm using paint this requires some touch-up work. Then just paste what I got to the field.

Same here. For Super Bowl XLVII I was rooting for the Ravens (as a Steelers fan) just to get a purple and red combo for the Super Bowl, which turned out to be a great combo. Good for me though, almost any color matches up with the Steelers gold well, so its a win-win when they make it to the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLV - XLVIII Updates

I've been going back and adding the team boxes to the fields to get the full extent of the field on past Super Sunday's.

Super Bowl XLV

- I made some changes to the field as well, added X's at 30's, changed the turf color where it was replaced for the game, darkened the yellow in the Packers endzone to match the Steelers yellow. The smaller fields of my usual posts will be at the official post for the fields.

Super Bowl XLVII

- Changed the numbers.
