NFL Changes 2014+

Understandable as to how Nike can have Dallas' 50 Shades of Grey, but not the Eagles' midnight green. Inexcusable.

The cowboys' navy wasn't a metallic. Not sure what the deal is with the pants - they may exist and it's just team choice not to wear - or maybe they have last Years but the shade doesn't match the numbers on the new nike jerseys so they need to wait for nike pants.

I just hope nike does keep them metallic and doesn't force thm to be flat like the replica jerseys.

Actually maybe THATS the problem - they can obviously make midnight green fabric since they have replicas, so maybe they ARE working on making the metallic fabric that matches for the on-field version. That would make sense, especially if it was a late requirement from the team.

Maybe they just chose not to wear the pants. It might be all in my head, but I feel like the eagles have worn all white an awful lot the past year or so. When I think of nick foles I think of him in all white.

Really looking forward to seeing how the new jerseys come out. I feel like they wouldn't have made the switch unless they were really satisfied with the product.

I've said this for awhile and I'll say it again here. If there's one NFL team that could pull off a matte helmet... No, that NEEDS to use a matte helmet, it's the Steelers. The halfway in between shiny and not shiny look they have right now is so cheap looking. They could really do that set a favor by making that helmet matte. It would really clean that look up, and most die hard traditionalists wouldn't even notice.

I doubt they're going to go for a metallic fabric. The replicas are a different material than on-field jerseys, and they may very well be the same fabric woven on a different way (some spots solid, others with holes like mesh). Judging by how terrible the on-field jerseys look at the first drop of sweat, they use at least two different materials on those jerseys. I'm guessing at this point Nike figured out how to match one of those materials, but he other one isn't close.

I don't think they've even seen the final product. It seems like Nike was like "Guys, we totally figured out the matching green thing, so we're cool now" and the Eagles said "Okay."

The Eagles jerseys look so cheap and it's almost like they're stuck in the '90s

Define "cheap"? I don't get the '90s feeling at all from them. If anything they look contemporary, and don't have many of the "qualities" that are synonymous with the 90s. You could argue the color, though when I think 90s I think more bright teal than their dark Aqua-ish green.

Well, late 90s was all dark colors. Blue teams became navy, black was used more, and kelly green became midnight.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

This is really not a bad idea. The Steelers still use the basic helmet finish, no gloss or candy coatings, no metallics.

I just now realized that all 3 Florida teams are "Nike-fied"... Why is it that a West Coast based company would go for Florida instead of focusing on California (San Diego, San Fran, Oakland) first? Granted the only would that would probably be open to extreme changes would be San Diego...

Watching the game last night I realized that the finish of the Steelers' helmets reminds me of an 8 ball. Kind of a weird look.

You only have 32 potential clients and you are a global design and marketing company. Client location is irrelevant. Raiders will never change as long as a davis owns the team. 9ers will only be candidates for maybe a stripe tweak or throwback/at as they've pretty much decided that their current look is what they are going with as long as a york/debartolo has a say. Chargers are a great candidate and would not be surprised if they have been pitched as their current set is their all time worst and there are so many unique design elements to work with. Problem likely is the spans family is notoriously stubborn and cheap (not sure if $ is a factor with a redesign) so that may play into things.

One thing I'm pretty confident in is that nike is constantly pitching both the clubs and league office to a multitude of redesign opportunities (more frequent changes, more alts/throwbacks, nfl pro combat series etc) to drive incremental mercy revenue. They paid a ton of $$$ for this deal and constant redesigns/rebrands/ad campaigns is what they do best.

Rams have openly speculated about a throwback design.

Eagles? Doubtful, but who knows.

I'd say the Broncos are due for another look.

Yeah, the Eagles are brought up as candidates for a change constantly on this board. Wishful thinking, I believe. Nothing I'd like better than to see kelly green come back (a criminally underused color in all sports these days) but they seem pretty content with what they have.
