NFL Changes 2014+

As long as the Redskins are a top seller in merchandise, and have corporate sponsorship, I doubt there will be any real groundswell among the NFL owners to force a change. We saw how Sterling was allowed to be an idiot for years by NBA owners but when major sponsors started pulling out, he was taken out.

I agree. It's not until they have to start covering all of the stadium signage that the team or league will be forced to act. Money talks.

Most likely nothing but Jed York 49ers owner was on the radio just now. He was talking about under armour and notre dame. Not liking how they switch things up or something. But said yea players ask us for new uniforms. We may experiment with a little here and there. But for the most part will stick close to what we have...

The only change they really NEED to make is to those weird stripes on the sleeves. That's about it.

Those uniforms fail regardless of medium.

The more I see these, the uglier they become.

When these first came out, on the board for it I was taking the stance that we should wait to see how they looked on the field, and that maybe we'd be suprised.

If these are any indication, I was very wrong. I think the main problem (let's not start with the numbers) is there is WAY too much pewter now. Adding it on the shoulders really makes it too much. I still think that with white pants it wouldn't look too bad. But the fact remains that the Bucs had something so good before, which makes it even worse

A little from Column A, a little from Column B.

I think Column C, waiting for a good opportunity may also be in play. I suspect "the name changes" may be an informal requirement of any future sale of the Washington franchise-Tagliabue wouldn't have instituted such a policy, but Goodell is made of stronger stuff. Granted Voldemort isn't even 50 yet, so it could be awhile.

The more I see these, the uglier they become.

They could've done anything other than what they did and they may look half decent. It looks like someone actually took a crap on them

I'm actually going to be mad if they're any good this season

While I follow the this-is-what-the-sneaky-subversive-owner-would-do as far as the Washington FC thing, I don't see the NFL going for it or allowing it, even if they didn't care about the racial sensitivity issues that would still be there. I don't see the NFL allowing one of its franchises to go without an official nickname when branding is one of, if not the most important aspect of the NFL's image outside of its players.

In action, this still looks like the Buccaneers. Red blob on a pewter helmet, red over pewter, etc. I understand that we now all have HD TVs and it's not 1968 anymore, so the ugly details will be more apparent on close-up shots. But my thinking is thus: The Buccaneers still look like how they used to look in a general sense. They're still red over pewter (with the exception of the sad addition of pewter shoulders; what's that about?). So while it's a downgrade in detailing (I mean really, what an awful "update" for that logo [from a logo to an illustration] and the numbers are the worst in the NFL), I don't think this is anywhere near as much of a downgrade as the Bills, for example, going from a bold red, white, and blue team in 2001 to a drab and over-complicated navy team with some red, blue, silver, white and whatever else.

Making orange a tertiary color (instead of a very small outline number), adding several shades of silver, and adding a chrome facemask are on par with what the Bills did to their color scheme.
