Tutorial Thread

I hope this thread will be my thread to post tutorials to. Hell, if you want to help out and put in a tutorial TO ANY SPORT and ANY TEMPLATE feel free to make a video or have an image tutorial and post it to this thread. I will update this thread with any tutorials sent in (that I find helpful and done well). So as of right now. My hockey one is the only one in this thread, but I hope to expand. To be more specific. This is a thread just for any tutorials that someone might have. If you want to show people how YOU do your football jersey concepts, by all means start your own thread or post it here! Rugby? Sure. Tennis? Sure. Just a place where beginners can see how other designers go about making good or great concepts!

Video is broken into three parts.

If you have any suggestions or any other tips you find work to make it easier or more realistic, leave it in the comments of the video or just reply right here!

Also, feel free to share your creations after watching and doing one (if you do) to see how you did).

In the video I try to go step by step to show you how to re create the Dallas Stars home jersey!

You have just helped out a psd newbie, thank you so much Wonka!

No problem! It's all about the small tutorials on photoshop. I felt I was on another planet starting off, same thing with Illustrator too, but the more I watched tutorials and slowly payed attention it started all coming together! Any questions, let me know! Hopefully I can answer (no promises though, haha)

dang, wish I had Photoshop :( I just love the way most of your NHL Shop jerseys look, really makes them come to life and not look like a mix of real and fake.

My first ones (you can see one on my first ever post on here) I used to just make straight lines and didn't add an effect. So it was a mix of 2D and a 3d jersey which at the time I thought was badass, now I think those are awful haha.

Very helpful thus far. Thank you for doing this.

Any chance you have a tutorial on how to do the lighting/shading? Or at least know where to point me? Heck, if you can just give the names of the processes (there has to be some clipping in there, but I'm guessing there's some displacement, various filters, some masking?), I can run with that. I've been scouring the Internet tubes looking for something specific to jerseys, but I can't seem to find something that would work.

Thanks again!

I'm not a master at that. Or say I know a lot. Basically what I did was made 3 duplicated layers of the original jersey I had and made it black and white.

The first bottom layer I put on exposure and made it so that it was bright but the shadows still showed. Then I made the layer blending option Multiply and lowered the opacity.

The middle layer I did exposure by you bring it down the opposite way to it gets darker but so you can keep the highlights in there. Then the blending option for that is Screen and lower the opacity. Then the top layer I left the same but gave it an Overlay blending option. Lowered the opacity so it was right. Try that, but like I said, I'm not the best to go to for that.

i waitched the whole video and i'm still lost at how you did all that

I added it because it looks like the whole thing (or most) is done by using the brush tool and just making sure it's inside the lines you want. I'm really adding almost every single thing someone posts (speed art, video tutorial, or picture tutorial) because it's basically just different peoples techniques. Some might find my techniques easy, some might find it hard. So it might not be your liked style.
