Make the base of the O wider to make it look more like a wagon. I think that may help alleviate the light bulb effect. The side view of the wagon is perfect though.

OMAHA PIONEERS UPDATE #2

I realized after posting the first update that it still has the lightbulb look, so decided to rework it a little more. I think the source of the problem was not necessarily the "radiating" look, but the wood beneath the wagon cover, like someone mentioned on the last page. So I got rid of the wood to make it a more true circle shape and less oblong/skewed. I also returned to the original idea of having the creases come from the middle, which only makes sense. I'm glad you guys like the side-view wagon logo but I really just see that as an alternate, I'm gonna keep the O as the primary. This is hopefully the last update for Omaha, and I may post Las Vegas tomorrow.

Also, just FYI, if you paid attention to the OP, the map only shows potential cities I'm considering. I welcome the name suggestions (like illwauk made), but I think some people are expecting a concept for each city. I'm only making concepts for 8 teams.

If you end up doing Columbus, there are a couple of names I can think of. The first of these are the Silverbacks. The reason behind this is that the Columbus Zoo was the first zoo in the US (and maybe the the world)to give birth to a baby gorilla. You could also do the Aviators, because of the nearby Air Force base and Ohio being the the birthplace of aviation. Lastly, due to Columbus's evolvement in the Civil War, there is a plethora of names you could choose from.

Maybe if you made the middle of the O/opening in the back of the wagon more wider. It already has the look of a paddle. I would take that and run with it. Make it look like the paddles used in the sport.

I feel that would help it identify with the sport. Plus it would make it look more like an O. Cause right now I can't really tell what it's supposed to be unless placed next to the rest of the city name.

Just spit balling ideas.

The worst part of this thread is that it's only going to be 8 teams. In praying you maybe try a little expansion if you continue to produce such unique concepts. Viva La Bounceball! There's so much creativity involved with concepts that involve a made-up sport.

I have been traveling, so I didn't see any of the Pioneers logos until now, and I think the "lightbulb" logos have potential. I definitely also saw the lightbulb immediately, and it might be hard to move past that, but I think it would help at least somewhat if you would add wheels. You had a stagecoach without wheels; the horses would be working pretty hard. The current logo doesn't look anything like a stagecoach to me, so while I understand why you wanted to get away from the lightbulb, I don't think the new logo captures their identity.

I liked the update... Then I saw the comments below. I understand that you want the wagon as a secondary, but I think its the best option to get away from... that.

I understand the covered wagon is being seen as many things other than a wagon haha. I think I've spent too long staring at that logo, I'm gonna take a break from Omaha and come back and revisit it later. I'll post Las Vegas later today.

LAS VEGAS FLYERS

My original idea for Las Vegas was to use a gambling/casino themed name like Aces/Kings/Jacks/etc, but that seemed too obvious. I think the more interesting history of Las Vegas is it's association with Area 51 and all the alleged alien activity. I settled on the name Flyers, because after all, that's what Area 51 is known for, unidentified flying objects. Flyers is a name usually associated with airplanes, so I wanted this to be unique take on a classic sports name. I started out with just a simple spaceship as the primary logo, but it's a little too awkwardly-shaped/oblong. Multiple UFO's are often reported as flying in a triangular or diamond formation, so that's what I tried to represent here. The primary logo shows 4 UFO's "swooping" down, from space I suppose. I included 2 alternate logos for Las Vegas. I originally just had the palm tree/flying saucer as the alternate, but I feel like a Las Vegas team wouldn't be complete without an LV monogram. I went with a futuristic-looking L and V with an "alien" pattern on the inside, something that's also found on the team's paddles. I mimicked the streaking design from the primary on the sleeves of the home uniform. The clash uniforms features a more traditional basketball-inspired design with a front wordmark and number. The tapered design on the sleeves and shorts is meant to represent a beam of light coming from an alien spacecraft. At first I made the court an all-black and gray design, but I think that would be too overwhelming and tough to watch, especially for a team wearing all-black unis. I'm going to keep most of the bounceball courts a lighter color than the uniforms for contrast. This was definitely a very fun concept to make, let me know what you think!
