VIRGINIA CAPTAINS UPDATE

I decided to go with a circular rope design rather than a shield for the primary logo. The only other changes appear on the court and the clash uniform. I went with a mostly yellow court with a sublimated rope design on the inside of the 2-pt line to match the center court logo. I also added some stripes to the shorts of the clash uni to better match the sleeves.

AUSTIN JACKALOPES

I settled on Austin, Texas as the location for my next team. It's a city that's really come to be a well-known culture/arts/music destination, and I think a pro team could do well there, especially because it's the only major city in Texas without one. They would play at the Frank Erwin Center, which, in my fantasy world, would be renovated for bounceball rather than basketball. I think it's fitting for Austin to have a sort of quirky team name given the city motto "Keep Austin Weird". And I've always wanted to do a logo for a mythical animal, and the jackalope seemed like a perfect choice. I went through about 4 different color schemes before I finally decided on a brown/red/gold-ish color. The primary logo is obviously a jackalope, in all it's antlered beauty. The antlers are a common theme throughout the entire identity: hidden in the A in Austin, and also in the roundel logo. The wordmark is custom to match the antler-A. The home uniform is fairly modern, with a "pronged" design on the sleeves and shorts. I wanted to go with red for the clash, but I don't think it's different enough from brown. Say they were playing a maroon team in the Pioneers, the colors would be too similar. I think the roundel makes for a good hockey-style logo on the clash, and I used a thick stripe design that is consistent throughout the whole uniform. The court is pretty simple, using more antlers inside the 2-pt line.
