So players aren't wearing their regular hats in this game?

STUPID

Yep. It's just another attempt to sell more hats. So will the Orioles' hat just look like their usual home hat? Will the Nats' hat look like their BP hat?

If they keep this up, what happens when the Reds host next year? Every hat will be designed with their standard team color with their logo? Riveting

That means my beloved Nats could be wearing [gulp] this: http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-3537931dt.jpg ????

not paying $38 for a hat either, but I never understood why the players don't where national / American jersey when they play the actual game, I mean they can where their team hat, but they were elected to the all star team, baseball is the only league that the players where their team jersey instead of a league jersey for the game...honestly it looks like a mess and a "me" mentality when they do that. id much prefer they were the nationa/ American jerseys for the game itself as well as the derby.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I completely agree with you. Having everyone simply wear their normal jerseys looks cheap and messy. If every team wore clean white and grey uniforms it wouldn't be so bad, but you have some guys in pinstripes, some guys without, some in white, some in cream. I loved the Padres' sand roads but at least now they won't stick out like sore thumbs during the ASG. The whole point of athletes wearing uniforms is so the teams look uniform. These players/teams wear their normal home/roads for 50-80 games a year, give them a day off and allow the league to showcase the (for the most part very nice) All-Star uniforms for more than just the HR Derby.

How hard do you think it would be to get that All-Star game patch off of these? Thinking about buying one but I'd much prefer it without the ASG patch.

Pretty much impossible. It'd be really easy to get the patch off of the cap (just hold it over an electric stove until the glue melts), but getting the excess glue off of the cap is going to be quite the task.

It's almost turning into an unpopular opinion to not like all the extra stuff (especially hats) MLB has put into games over the last few years. I'd like to believe that the public agrees with me, but we ultimately vote with our wallets and MLB keeps rolling the stuff out.

A's, Mariners, White Sox, and Indians caps don't look bad. Orioles, Blue Jays, Twins look ok too becuase we're used to seeing that. The rest look mediocre to atrocious. If they wanted to do this, they should have gone consistent with the white front panel. The orange and red panels really look weird/clashing.

But as we see in Spring Training, uniforms don't matter in baseball. Nothing like a Mariners in navy cap and jersey playing the Padres in navy cap and jersey to prove that point.

I grabbed two of the All Star Game caps today. Surprisingly, neither have the ASG or star patches on them.

I'm getting this sneaking suspicion that these may be used by a few teams in games after the All Star Break as alternates. Why else would they sell the same caps with and without the ASG patches and stars?

This one has me absolutely cracking up

This hat is much nicer than the one they're currently using IMO. The shape of the white panel is much closer to what they used to wear and there is no black stitching on the white panel. The only bad thing about the hat is they used the BP hat material.
