Twins Uniforms

I love the TC cap logo. The M just never felt right. I'm also partial to the previous grey roads with pinstripes.

The TC logo is great because it's not the obvious answer like an M is. It's one of those quirky things. I wouldn't mind looking at some attempts to update it, but it's really fine as is.

Love the TC caps...but love the road greys with pinstripes...which were worn with the M cap during the World Series years of '87 and '91...

One of the worst-dressed teams in baseball at the moment. Would it really have been that hard to make a Minnesota script that matches the Twins script? I also would like to see them adopt the Vikings' purple and gold instead of being yet another navy/red team.

Navy and Red are the only colors they've ever worn. To change because all those other teams altered their uniforms is in my opinion silly. You'd think MLB would have asked the other teams to find unique palettes for their teams.

Yes, we got that. You've posted the same thing anytime the Twins uniforms come up. You even post it in people's concepts. It's not a good idea and it's not happening.

Yes. They should have worn the TC caps with the road greys ;)

It matches the home uni. The uni with the cursive Twins script is an alt/throwback.

I like their look, apart from a few beefs I have with the piping and the navy alts, but man...that big TWINS has to go. While Phillies and White Sox and Indians and several other teams have had their late 80s-early 90s looks age well, the TWINS script looks so old and dated. I actually have the opposite opinion of TheOldRoman, I'd prefer they go to the old script full time. However, I don't think those cream throwbacks should become standard.

I probably would have preferred a new wordmark that was basically the classic version, except cleaned up. However, since they decided to roll with this cleaned-up version of the last wordmark, my last post detailed how I think they can fix their errors. Because they sure aren't going to spend millions of dollars to replace the scoreboard and all the signage in their new stadium with an update this soon.

This is sarcasm, right?

I've always enjoyed following people's opinions of the Twins here...because I am a Twins fan, but also because the overall tone seems to be "the Twins have nice uniforms, but..." Then the "buts" are all unique. Some people like the "M". Some like the cream. Some hate the "TC" font not matching the wordmarks. Some want throwbacks or no pinstripes or a color change or a whole new wordmark, etc. Ultimately, though, it seems as if most people believe the Twins are just missing out on some nice uniforms.

The bold part above is key. I want the Twins to have one "Twins" wordmark. If they switch to the old script then they have to remove or replace the scoreboard script.

My opinions on the present:

  • I agree with Roman...enough with the throwback. If the current look is the look, then they need to own it and not try to be both. I liked wearing that for the first outdoor home Twins game since 1981 (and weekly just for that season) but then it was time to pick a look and stick with it. Maybe keep it on hold for a tribute after Harmon Killebrew died (for one game not the entire rest of the season) and for next year's 50th anniversary of the 1965 AL Championship (Again, one game only)
  • Regarding "M" vs. "TC", I HATED the "M" hat. I'd rather see a totally new "M" than that one. However, the TC has been a part of the team for over 50 years now. I am glad there are a few teams that use something other than just the City (state) letter. I prefer the TC.
  • I'd rather there just be one blue alt...the "Twins" one.
  • I am fine with the "Minnesota" script and don't feel the Twins are in dire need of a road uniform change.
  • Dump the red bill. And never, ever, again wear a red hat.
  • The colors: yeah, too much Red/Blue in MLB, but the Twins have always had it...a change to Vikings or Wild colors would not be welcomed here.

My desires for the long term:

  • Modify the "TC". Red with white outline. We've long discussed how the "C" is tough to see on the red hat.
  • The new script update is an improvement, but ultimately, it still looks "Metrodome-y" to me. I LOVE the cream alts and I would honestly welcome going back to it full-time (setting aside the scoreboard issue for now). The downside would be having to come up with another "Minnesota" script, as I don't want "Twins" on the road, even if they did do that from 1961 to 1986. I know above I say to stop using the cream so much but that's about diluting the look...I like the jersey but hate having two separate looks (see: Brewers, Milwaukee). I kinda wish they'd have gone to this as their look upon opening Target Field (then the scoreboard would be a non-issue too).
  • However, have NOB on this jersey...You are not the Yankees. Your own fans don't know that Danny Santana wears number 39.
  • Don't use the old sleeve patch that's on there now. It's too cartoony.
  • I like the Twins in pinstripes and either way hope they keep it up.
  • If they do stick with this look, still modify the cap.

Thank you for your willingness to discuss this little team.

I personally blame DC and mlb for allowing multiple incarnations of the senators to fail and relocate, then keeping the rwb color scheme. Either way the twins colors are a holdover from the senator so there's really nothing unique to the twins about the colors.

I hate the creams. Actually, I don't like any of the cream uniforms except for the Giants. Something about the orange makes it work, and I think they were the first to really use it. All of the teams coming out in the last few years w/ cream alts has been overkill.

No, but they've had it as the Twins for 50 years. That's enough time make it their own.

I agree with a lot of folks on here. I think, if anything, the Twins suffer from the same thing that plagued several franchises -- too many uniforms. I can do without any of the alts, but if I had to limit it to the one, it would be the navy "Twins" jersey.

I'm also not enamored with the pinstripe-less road uniforms. I miss the old road grays. There was a simplicity to those that, because of the basic wordmark, is reminiscent of the Yankees roads or the old Reds gray uniforms. I don't feel it's necessary to force the type style used in the primary logo onto the word "Minnesota." For one, I think it would be ugly. But I also just don't think it's necessary.

As for the cap logo, I don't get the arguments against "TC." I grew up in Minnesota and any confusion over why the team had "TC" on their caps was gone after a 15-second explanation. It's a baseball brand that works.

This issue brings out the old man in me. Now get off my lawn.

Navy and red is owned by a third of mlb. There's nothing unique about their identity nor are they the sole owners of said color scheme in their own division. Binding the franchise to red and navy is just silly and unnecessary.

I'm surprised so many people hate the M cap. I love that cap, and wish they would've kept it as an alt.

No, it's not. I don't care how long they've been wearing navy and red, that color scheme is extremely boring and used by far too many teams in the league.

Yknow what else the Twins suffer from? The Indians. Same division, same colors, identical alternates.

Both teams have clunky red scripts on their home jerseys, and navy scripts on the road. Their alternates are so so similar, and they both also have cream alts (Although those don't look that similar.)

The same shades of navy and red, and every now and then you'll see them pair off both wearing navy and you won't be able to tell who's who.

So basically, a big problem with the Twins uniforms is...the Cleveland Indians.

Their shades of Red are actually different, but everything else you mentioned are valid points:
