WESPN
The set would have been a lot nicer if you didn't steal an Xavier logo for the primary.I honestly had no idea that Xavier used that logo. I was having trouble drawing my own and for the sake of time thought I'd borrow from someone else. That was the head of a different "cavalier" logo that I found on Google images from a high school. So I chopped off the head, changed the colors, and put the swords behind it.I see a lot of the Pelicans in the uniforms. Now that you mention it they do share some similarities. Completely unintentional though. Must have been something subliminal. The stripes on the side are meant to imitate a beveled sword, while the collar stripes are supposed to represent crossing swords.I went with a blue and eggshell color theme simply because I thought it looked cool. Not much rhyme or reason other than that. This has to be a joke. The color scheme or my reasoning? You want my actual reasoning? The blue was taken from the Cavaliers alternate jersey during LeBron's original stint with the team. The eggshell color just complements it well; and I didn't want to use their current goldenrod color. If you have a beef with it, please explain your reasoning rather than simply dismissing it as "a joke".Pelicans + Xavier = This concept. This is kind of embarrassing.I'm not embarrassed. I think it's a pretty nice design. Yes the logo was borrowed, but the uniforms and wordmarks were completely original. Come on. Don't do this. Especially for a contest. To all, take this as a lesson. Plagiarism is not okay, in any circumstance, anywhere. Is it plagiarism if it's altered? If I were actually designing a logo for something more serious than a contest obviously I wouldn't do it the way I did. But it's just for fun so I'm not bothered by it. I was running out of patience trying to draw my own (that sort of logo is not my strength) so I cut some corners. It looks decent, but at the cost of plagiarism. Therefore I do not like itThanks for the compliment. Not bad, minus the stealing of Xaviers logo. Here is my submission for the contest. I went the whole international route, while also incorporating ads on the front of the jerseys. I have a feeling we are about 5 years away from it anyways. Here is one of the 3 Pics I submitted.Thank you as well. I really like your crest, but I'm not a fan of basketball players wearing soccer jerseys. And like some others said, I'll rue the day that mainstream teams (NFL, MLB, NBA) have giant ads on their unis.

The deadline was today, so there's no totally original logo this time, but maybe next time I'll have something easier to work with than a human head (I suck at drawing people). WESPN
Do you mind sharing that template? That's a pretty interesting concept. I tend to go for more traditional looks, but in terms of modern designs that's pretty sharp.

Your explanation for your color scheme is often taken as a joke here. "Chose the colorz becuz their kewl. Sweg" (not talking about you, but the swag designers or whatever they're called). You also admitted you're lazy, "Just googled cavalier". Honestly, I'm shocked that you would think we would take this seriously.
drdougfresh
If you're going to borrow someone else's work, put it out there and credit your source before someone calls you on it. Conveniently leaving that piece out from your OP and inferring that it was also a part of the "creative process," as you've so eloquently dubbed this, is suspicious. We take IP theft seriously here, and 'borrowing' for a concept without a mention of it definitely falls under that category. Figured I'd fill you in on the ethics of it so you can understand the commentary from some posters and hopefully learn from this experience TL;DR - there's no excuse for taking credit for someone else's work. Don't do it.
Brave-Bird 08
Guys, if we post concepts of corporate logos on NBA jerseys and Adidas sees them and think it looks good, they might be more prone to go for it. We should end all operations.

crashcarson15
Yes, it's plagiarism if it's "altered." If I steal your car and get a nice paint job on it, is the car still stolen?Consider this your warning. Plagiarism will not be tolerated on these forums. Thus, I have removed the concept from the original post. It's both an intellectual property issue and an issue of keeping actual, creative concepts at the top of the page.I've allowed the thread to carry on because it's evolved into a discussion about a contest that was held but in standard situations, this thread would be deleted. In the future, if you stumble upon a plagiarized, uncredited concept, PLEASE hit the report button so one of us can take care of it.Thank you. j'villejags
Results were posted today. I can't believe I won two categories. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11282331/cleveland-cavaliers-redesign-resultsGood stuff. I really loved the throwback to the 90s era. You did a great job converging LeBron's era of uniforms to those of the 90s. I really like how unique they are compared to what is out there today without going overboard with design features. Your version is a nice and clean, modern update. I'd be happy to see your design on the court at least as an alternate. Maybe it will give the Cavs some ideas for some fresh alternates going forward. It's one era the Cavs haven't thrown back to, maybe for good reasons, but I like this look a lot.http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/history/uniform_history.htmlAnd I'm not sure if it'd improve the look you've got going but I wouldn't mind seeing the maroon/burgundy color you've used replaced with their current shade of navy. Also I think I like the shorts posted in this thread better than the ones you had submitted to Paul. Either way, great work! It's nice when your talents are recognized.
