So they aren't even in a position to suck enough to get the best available QB. I think their best bet at the moment is trading for someone like Cousins or even Vick. At the end of the day you still need to score points to win football games. The Rams offense is probably going to be bad enough to take them down to the 4-5 win level. It seems unfathomable, but we went 7-9 last year with Kellen frickin Clemmons (however you spell it). Shaun Hill is a mile above Clemmons as a passer, and he has a career 13-13 record as a starter. And he played on teams that were way worse than this Rams team.I think with our strong Defense, and a good running attack, we will start out 3-0. Then maybe we can catch some lucky breaks and finish 8-8 or 9-7. The team is improved at every position over last year, with CB (especially with the Trumaine Johnson injury) being the one arguable place. That includes back up QB. They were a solid team with Kellen Clemens at the helm, and if Kellen makes a few throws, avoids a few turnovers, they're looking at a winning record last year, including some big upsets (actually, they had those, but even bigger upsets). The excitement with Sam at QB wasn't because he had proven he was awesome or because they were relying on him to be awesome. It was that he was safe and solid at worst—which is the type of QB play this team is built to need—and could actually be really good. Shaun Hill turns the ball over a bit more than Bradford (most QBs do), but not at an alarming rate. And aside from that, we can expect from Hill similar play to what a lot of people thought Bradford was anyways. (Others, including myself, believed in his higher ceiling. The Rams won't get that from Hill, of course.) This isn't going to be a 1999 Rams story with Shaun Hill coming out of nowhere to lead an explosive offense to a championship. We know who Shaun Hill is, we know that the rest of this team isn't built to be a passing juggernaut. But this team can still have a successful season. Heck, the 2008 Titans, built very similar to this Rams squad, went 13-3 with Kerry Collins at the helm. And long-term, maybe the Rams future is as clear as ever. Bradford is gone. I hate that. I feel terrible for him. I never won't believe he could have been a star, but he never had the right circumstance or the right luck. The reality is, he's done as the Rams QB of the future (maybe with football, but we'll see). Barring some unexpected trade that I'm not sure exists (Kirk Cousins? Aaron Murray), the Rams won't be acquiring their QB of the future until next year's draft. When they do, they won't need to build around him. The team is/will already be built. They'll just need to bring him into the opening and let him roll with it. The 2015 Rams will essentially be the 2012 Seahawks from this perspective. They had the team, they figured out Wilson was the real deal, and from there they had some magic. This is a pretty crappy thing to have happen, but I don't think it ruins everything. They also forced Drew Brees to throw 2 picks, beating them as well as the Colts. I don't think you know much about the Rams at all. He was "having a few beers" in his home, as his side says, and the NFL wanted to ban him for the entire season, but he got it down to four games. Still ridiculous.Also, how the hell have they not made a ruling on Josh Gordon's appeal yet? It's been over two weeks.
